Default The fall - Reference disc

I just got the Fall today in the mail and I have to say its the most vibrant, colourful, damn right amazing disc I've got out of the 126 or so that I currently own.

Sound is DTS-HD MA and is also an amazing experience. It came as pure shock because I read this forum everyday and nobody ever spoke of the movie let alone the disc quality.

I'm going out on a whim to say this is a 10/10 all round disc for PQ and AQ. It might not be everyones favourite movie as its a acquired taste. But believe me there are alot of movies getting high marks on everything that are alot worse than this one.

I have just replaced my TV though and this is the first Blu-ray i've watched from beginning to end.

If your the sort of person that wants the best of the best, this is where I would start.

Take this as opinion though, but I think for someone that owns 126 discs I can put myself in the league of "experienced" blu ray owners club.

I thought it was amazing myself...I'm always spouting off praise for Tarsem and his cinema vision...one of the best in the industry.

That little girl stole the show...she was phenomenal.

???????????????????????

This movie was heavily discussed even before it was released.....and still is to this day. There are many threads about the PQ, AQ and the film in general. I dont know how you could have missed them....because there were many. It gets five stars from me as well.

Seriously, I've been waiting forever for a deal.. Nobody has it less than $25

Amazing experience on blu-ray. I'm hoping The Cell turns out to be a great transfer as well.

Does the quality of the movie itself live up to the strong visuals? I thought the Cell was pretty weak, but this seems to get higher marks on IMDB, so I'm tempted to blind buy the BD. Any detailed opinions would be welcome.

Its a weird movie. Its 2 hours long and requires a certain mood. Its an interesting idea. Some interesting choices of actors/actresses here too. Overall I just think its a bizarre movie that works out just fine. It had the same effect to me as Pans Labyrinth did. Although the movies are not alike.

Seems us Brits are getting the best deals right now. I think I paid £13, which is about $18 tops at the moment.

No way...The Cell was excellent and under-rated. The Fall made me want to kill everyone around me. I hated it. That little girl needs to be choked to death...and that stuntman guy.... UGGGH!

Um...Jennifer Lopes makes me want to drink bleach. But I admit, in spite of Lopez, I do like The Cell, it surprised me. The Fall is tacky and overdone, but if you mute the audio and play your favorite music over the picture, it works quite nicely (ie, Mr. Scruff, Deep Forest)!

This is one of the five free blu rays I chose with the Sony card deal. I'm looking forward to it. I figured for free, it's definitely worth a shot. From what most of you are saying, it's at least eye candy.

I'd say it starts off rather slow.. but if you are in the right mood and patient it is a very rewarding experience. It's not something you can sit around with your guy friends as a guys movie.

There were maybe one or two scenes that seemed a bit much admit, but for the most part I loved it. Just rent it first.

I loved The Cell as well but I know it wasn't super popular.

We saw it in the theater (the one week it was playing) and fell in love with it. Then we got the DVD and showed it to several friends. Then we jumped to Blu-ray, got a player, got this movie on BD... and it's still sitting at home, still shrink-wrapped. I can't believe we haven't watched it in hi-def yet.

The PQ is amazing, but the story is what is really different and at the same time refreshing with the many comical moments. I showed it to most of my friends and they all really enjoyed it. I paid $32 CAD for it. It is definitely worth the price IMO.

Amazing audio, amazing picture and the main thing: hidden in a surrealistic images a very deep plot about human behavior.
One of the best BD's I own.

I would argue that it certainly does. The Cell was pretty much confined within a single genre, The Fall is far more flexible with its narrative.
