I am building out my new HT space and migrating to 7.1. I have about 60 BDs and unfortunately, a 7.1 audio track is still pretty uncommon. Any suggestions on a good shoot-em-up action flick that will rock my new 7.1 like Saving Private Ryan did for DVD all those years ago? I want to be blown away when I christen my new baby. =)

if you want a horrible horrible movie with great 7.1 then yes shoot em up. otherwise if you want a good movie with great 7.1 then 310 to yuma. never in a million days would i buy shoot em up just for sound cause thats all it has going for it.

I have both 3:10 to Yuma and Hellboy II and they DO sound awesome in 7.1. I have some other titles that are 7.1, but for the most part they are not as action oriented as these 2. My son has some animated 7.1 titles that are in my movie list that also sound pretty good.

![]() I appreciate your sense of irony! =) I also find it a little sad that at this stage of the blu-ray game, there are only 4-5 titles with decent 7.1 tracks. 7.1 receivers are the norm now (at least for the BD crowd). When are studios going to embrace this and start creating 7.1 mixes by default? Thanks for the recommendations. |

Check this site if you haven't already, you can go through the list and look for the 7.1 titles or you can "sort by" the different 7.1 audio options (DTS-MA 7.1, LPCM 7.1, etc) to shorten the list.

But I would agree, 3:10 to Yuma is the best 7.1 reference disc when you consider movie and audio - Rambo is also very good for 7.1, if the people you have over can stomach the violence. |
