It would cool if MVD could also release Death Warrant

Yeah I saw a post by a user mentioning it, but I thought MVD Insider officially launched it with a post here... Good to know it's coming, and like most of us on here I really hope for a few more JCVD titles in the Rewind Collection.

@ MVD REWIND GUY

I know that Lone Wolf McQuade already has a Blu-ray release but the MGM version has a really crappy photo-shopped cover. I don't know how it would do sales wise but I would love to own a copy of Lone Wolf McQuade with a beautiful MVD Slipcover with the original poster art.

I get excitement about a Kickboxer release by MVD but why all the pom pom waving for other Van Damme titles? There's no shortage of quality Van Damme titles. I'd rather see MVD stick to titles that haven't been releases on a quality BD.

I would prefer individual releases of Van Damme's earlier films like Kickboxer, Death Warrant, Bloodsport and Timecop. I grew up on these films and it would be cool to have Collectors Editions of them.

If MVD were to get their hands on the 4 films that I mention, I would buy them for sure

Sadly a ton of disc buyers are "collectors" who want poster art and slipcovers or whatever the hell else, rather than focusing on quality masters. MVD aren't upgrading masters, so I see little point in re-releases. Obviously the above posts prove many disagree though.

Let's be honest, you probably dont care about the re-releases because they arent UHD. It's rare to see a post of yours that isnt waving the UHD flag lately. That being said you probably have a point, but if I can get a Van Damme with cool packaging and some supplements I'll take it at this point. New masters would obviously be great but it doesnt seem like it's happening. The MGM Van Damme blus had pretty appalling cover arts which I'm sure is why quite a few people want any sort of upgrade

I'm so bored of "I haven't upgraded to UHD yet so I'm going to whine about people who have and love it" posts that this doesn't even upset me. I'm sure you were excited about DVD only re-releases of the same master in 2010, right?

My point was for this specific topic it seemed kind of pointless to make a Bates Motel like post criticizing the people that arent all about the best possible picture quality and collect for other reasons. Who cares what they do? It's not like anyone is rushing out pristine Van Damme upgrades. In all honesty I am jealous of those who have UHD and are upgrading with no problem, I have spent so much over the years upgrading from on format to the next, so much money down the tubes and I cant figure out which title is going to push me to make the leap. I'm not wealthy so i certainly cant upgrade everything

Van Damme movies are an important part of my collection, but I'm not sure I'll feel the need to upgrade any of his films to UHD (and I love me some UHD). Kickboxer is the only Van Damme I can think of that needs an upgrade. The rest of his films look good enough for my tastes.

If I came off Bates Motel-y then whoops, didn't mean to be that snarky. It's just frustrating when so many movies need upgrades, or even BD releases in general, and people put stuff on their wishlist just for a new cover.

Honestly my real problem is MVD not remastering anything, but I don't necessarily blame them. People have shown it's packaging and extras they care about first and foremost, which just baffles me. I want the movie to look its best. That's my core desire.

Fair enough, point well taken. I'm pretty picky about the look of my collection (I dont even like importing because of ratings logos etc.) and I dont have the eye that many do for video quality so any upgrade is good with me. All I know is that from VHS till now each step up has looked alot better so I'm sure 4k is no different

4k resolution itself is honestly not a huge deal IMO. It's nice, especially for grain, but it's not a DVD to BD style boost. It's HDR that is the stunning upgrade, and turns UHD into a huge upgrade. You'll see at some point.

Honestly though I think Blu-ray looks 100% "good enough," assuming the movie has been remastered with at least a 2k negative scan. I want every movie to get that, even shite like Double Team.

I don't care about new packaging, although I'll admit when it's slick, like the new Creepshow, then I like it. But, I do like extras, so if the same master comes out and it has a lot of special features, and the original was a bare bones release; then I will upgrade. I like lots of extras, especially for movies that I love. Now, would I prefer a new master, yes, but if that's not the case I'll take the new extras.

@trentdiesel - 4K is worth upgrading to, but it's not worth upgrading your previous movies. I too don't have a ton of money, and I've already decided if I was going to upgrade every blu-ray I have to 4K I would go broke, and crazy. I'll buy the new releases that I like in 4K, and only a select few movies that I love will I upgrade to 4K. I'm happy enough with my current blu-rays.

I like these MVD Van Damme upgrades for the supplements. I'll take a Van Damme CE any day of the week. As long as the PQ is adequate, they can count on a purchase from me. On top of that, I really like the MVD line. Van Damme was a major part of my video store days in the 90s.

Agreed. I do think everyone should do a 2K scan at this point if they can.

I would want HDR for newer movies but I'm not as into newer movies so I havent been tempted to get UHD's of them as of yet, but my fear is once I get something like Predator in that format I'll have to get every Arnold movie and then from there itll be Van Damme and I'll go crazy and lose my mind

I was only planning to upgrade my absolute favorites and get new releases, but after getting used to HDR I fell in love and am now replacing almost everything. It's not about the flashy effects, HDR adds a lot of depth and texture to every scene. It transforms the movies into much better versions of themselves. So beware!

Also Predator is one of the most improved movies on UHD. The Blu-rays are shite.

I went to the closest Sunrise Records in my area, (Sunrise Records is like the equivalent of FYE here in Canada) and I was surprised to see some MVD Rewind Collection titles, although not high on my priority list I ended up getting Angel Town which was a blind buy. I just couldn't resist that beautiful slipcover and the fact that I was able to purchase an MVD product in person and the price was also reasonable $29.99 CAD.

I can't wait for NEMISIS and DOUBLE DRAGON, keep em' coming MVD REWIND GUY

If you live out west, London Drugs also carries some of their titles... I picked up Return of Swamp Thing for $24.99, and I've also seen Attack of the Killer Tomatoes there.
