Yeah, they get really strict about what hours kids can be out, here's the list from a newsletter I get:
Code:
Trick-or-Treating in Hawthorn Woods will occur on Halloween (Tuesday, October 31) from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Trick-or-Treat hours for the Village of Mundelein is Tuesday, October 31st 4-8 PM.

Trick-or-treating in the Village of Round Lake will be held on Sunday October 29, 2017 from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm.

Trick-or-Treating in Wauconda is October 31 from 4pm til 8 pm
Regarding the bus plot-hole,
[Show spoiler]the only foreshadowing I can think of was the close-up of the pen before they load onto the bus and then seeing the pen when he kills the cop.

wow, that's interesting that TOT lasts 4 hours for you.

It's only 2 hours here, and it has always been 6pm-8pm for my entire life

Growing up in Michigan, I was out Trick or Treating until 10pm

After the child who has bitten into the razor blade in Halloween II has received medical attention at the hospital, his Mother says something along the lines of "we can still go home and play games".

So in that timeline the attack on Laurie (in the original) must have happened fairly early in the evening.

I was quite surprised that this film wasn't released in IMAX from release date, I changed my plans and went to see it in a local cinema when I discovered it wasn't. I'm pleased it is getting a belated run in IMAX - though I'll be surprised if we do in the UK.

Halloween has grossed over $100 million globally already-only five days into it's release!

Obviously a sequel will be made. I remember them saying it was to be a trilogy, but decided to wait until they saw box office returns before going forward with another film.

But having seen the movie, I'm not sure I want a sequel. I feel there's closure to Laurie's story.

Impressive, 2018 has been a great year for mainstream horror success. Ironically the cinema was mostly empty when I went to see it last sunday here in the UK, was surprised by how few people there were tbh.

Sure didn't seem like it. There was no one outside.

From what I recall he fled. So he is still very much alive.

That’s amazing I’m so happy that this version of Michael Myers is so successful because I would love to see more of him.

This looks like its going to beat scream 1 at the box office scream is the most successful slasher movie of all time that’s amazing it’s still in the no1 spot after all these years

Don't forget to adjust for inflation. Tickets sold is more telling than box office gross.

You don't see studios claiming "Record breaking tickets sold at the box office!" or proudly presenting their film sold the "most tickets." It's all about the money.

Yep. And by today's standards, Scream made $206 million.

Like someone else said, it was a greatest hits album culminating elements and scenes from past Halloweens. Hell the climax basically repeated HII... except there's no resolve which sucks. The last 20 minutes of Halloween 2018 is when i thought it finally leveled up, but that wasn't enough to make this the best since the first and certainly not good enough for me to bury Halloween II which indeed was half of Halloween night circa 1978, or H20 which did this song and dance already. Despite all this, I did enjoy Halloween 2018 as a return to form, but holy hell is it getting overblown praise. Perhaps I found the high fallutin attitude towards the franchise from Blumhouse and the decision to excise the whole entire canon to be irksome... more so after seeing the finished product only to find it merely ok. False confidence.
Wife and I went to see this and the post above basically sums up my thoughts. It felt like H20 only a 2018 version, not really much better or worse, just kind of the same shit with a modern Blumhouse feel which ain't really my bag. No scares or even creepy vibes for me, I laughed at a lot of the "tense" parts like the patients in the beginning. They tossed out the old stuff and felt like they were making something classier and more important, but I don't really think it was. I'm happy so many loved it, glad you got something you wanted, but the wife and I both said "meh" when it was over. Not a bad movie, just not a good one either IMO.

Also when
[Show spoiler]Michael stomps on the doctor's head and it instantly turns to hamburger
I laughed out loud in the theater. What a shitty effect.

I've not seen the movie, but H20 was brilliant and groundbreaking for the time... having the same concept playing out in 2018 is a bit of "MEH" for me.

Yeah. There's a reasonable amount of time between the kid seeing Michael in the hallway, leaving his bedroom to go tell the baby sitter about Michael. So somewhere in there he had to of passed by Michael, who decided to just chill in the kids closet waiting for the sitter.

H20 is to Halloween 2018 what Rocky 5 is To Rocky Balboa. This year’s film is way superior.
