Tomorrow I'm FINALLY WATCHING HALLOWEEN 2018! Damn you, Peru, for bringing it a week after the USA, but at least you took less than Love, Simon. But f**k you for only showing it dubbed, just like Love, Simon. You better have sub showings for Fantastic Beasts 2 and The Hate U Give, and that's if you dare to bring THUG here, you b*****ds.

Interesting.

To me, H20 had some very useless characters. LL Cool J was comedy relief that does nothing, contributes to nothing but reciting lines from his smut novel.

The teenagers have no depth and are mostly annoying slasher fodder.

John is missing in large swaths of the film, and despite being billed as the second lead (he's supposed to be Jamie Lee Curtis) and a promising arc revolved around Laurie's PTSD and being fed up with it, after the first act, that story is done, forgotten, and going into the 3rd act, John is completely absent.

The portions with the teens do not feel organic to the storytelling. It feels rushed, and exists to provide a body count.

I think it's great that you can give a star rating for this movie. Saw it last night, gave it one star, which still somehow feels generous. Terrible movie. I've been thinking about how bad it is all day and it's starting to piss me off now, especially considering how many people are holding it in high regard. Definitely a sorrowful time for movies of all genres.

By the way, does anyone here like the new HALLOWEEN better than the 1978 original?

Of course not!

I simply found this sequel to be the most worthy of the Halloween title since maybe Halloween II in '81 and that film is uneven a drags in a lot of places. However, what I love about this new Halloween, is just how much this project looks and feels like a labor of love. There is a lot of fun to be had watching this, because everyone involved looks like they're giving it their all, respecting the legacy of Halloween, while adding their own piece to it. Does it make it better than the original? Of course not. Do I love the original less now? Don't be silly. The original can never be overtaken.

I prefer this film over H20 for Jamie Lee's role, the dynamic between the 3 generations of Strode women and the climax, but H20 has a superior opening sequence, set-up, and I like how the ending has more finality to it (before they retconned it).

I don't know where you're getting the idea that it's no longer okay to show boobs on screen. Plenty of current movies show boobs. The Halloween series never really had that much nudity in them, and several of them don't have any nudity at all. Also, with a director like David Gordon Green you're not going to get the type of exploitative nudity that you would in a Friday the 13th movie.

I'm so bummed they didn't get Nancy Stephens for a role in the new one.

Saw this today. Overrated, overhyped, Curtis phoned it in, the sibling retcon (pure anal fanboyism at its worst) severely undermines Laurie and Myers as nemeses to the point of actual silliness and zero emotional resonance. Some utterly bizarre WTF moments too (the doctor). Will Patton was good as the Sheriff, shame about everyone else.
Massively inferior to many of the sequels it retcons (most crucially II and H20). I have to laugh at the H20 detractors moaning about a 90s movie feeling like a 90s movie. Well, this doesn't exactly feel like a 70s movie either... just typical 21st century bloated nostalgia porn and cinematic fan-fiction.

Whatever.

I heard the reason was because John Carpenter talked them out of it. Apparently they also planned to have Michael kill Loomis before getting picked up by the cops, which would’ve been a horrible idea.

One homage this film was sorely lacking:

Should've had this playing on the truck's radio at the end.

Agreed about Mr. Sandman - I was really hoping they would have played a moment of that song as a homage to part II.

Psycho II says hello. It was released in 1983, 22 years after the first film, and brought back Anthony Perkins reprising his role of Norman Bates.

And Vera Miles! Too bad John Gavin was American ambassador to Mexico at the time, otherwise maybe he would have been, too (speaking of which, R.I.P. John )

Still funny so many people say the doctor was "out of left field" "WTF" -- no, not at all.

It was neither "shocking" or "expected" -- it was what it was.
