I agree, but I emphasize the first two films as they excel above the others. Both are really A+ budgets with A-List production values.

While the character sort of aged with Weissmuller over his 16-years as Tarzan
(in 6 MGM movies plus 6 for RKO),
in the first two Weissmuller is at his prime and all the dollars really show on the screen.

I will also add that the first two are sort of historical studies on imperialism, race, and sex. In terms of daring stories (both good and bad), some so-called "Pre-Code" films were not excelled in cinema until the late 1960s.
