Yeah I’m anxious to see the Rambos.

I’m not a huge football fan. Just love being around family and hanging out. Hopefully squeeze in a movie or 2.

As far as I'm aware, these 4K remasters are brand new and the Blu-Ray discs will also be taken from the new remasters, as well... though I don't know for sure. I'm waiting till I see some captures. If the new remasters suffer from the same framing issues, I won't be buying them.

What framing issues? I haven’t been able to find any information about framing issues with prior releases of this.

The 2011 remasters that Studio Canal put out in Europe (don't think they were ever released in the States) were poorly framed to the point where you saw parts of the negative you aren't supposed to see, highlighting camera rigging for example.

No matter, HDR10 looks excellent.

I'm well aware, my comment was a wee joke about HDD's 'non-biased' DV trumpeting.

Even though Rambo III is the weakest of the trilogy, it ought to look brain melting in HDR with the right encoding.

Studio Canal excluding DV is like music to my ears at this point. Until they can include it without buttf**ing the HDR10 layer, they should leave well enough alone.

No idea if it affects the 4K Blu-ray, but I did notice black spatter here.

@0.36

Ohers trailers also have some white spatter.

Nice catch. IIRC the BDs are based on the same new 4K masters as on the UHDs, so I'd imagine any print wear and such to be the same between them. That is if the video they used for those trailers are indicative of the new BDs I guess.

Judging by those German trailers, they've got the framing right this time, but much like the 2011 masters, the gun flash at 0.34 (when Teasle knocks the rifle out of Galt's line of fire) in the First Blood trailer is invisible for some reason.

I shouldn't complain, as on the whole, these look like a radical improvement on all previous releases. I'll probably get the German trilogy steelbook, as the U.K disc of Rambo III is likely cut for the horsefall.

Be careful there, usually the German disc is the same as the UK disc when it comes to Studio Canal so highly likely the cuts will be on both in which case the US Lionsgate will be the preferred choice for III.

Just checked all three myself side by side against the 2011 masters (all three were framed off-axis too far to left) and like you said all three appear to have the framing issues fixed, excellent. Really can't wait to get these. Along with all the Carpenter remasters either with bluray or uhd, Jack Ryan remasters, MI remaster (despite some iffy color timing choices), Die Hard remaster, Deer Hunter remaster, Candyman Uncut remaster and a host of others this is turning out to be my favorite year for releases.

The color grading in those trailers is absolutely spot on to original 35mm prints. Can’t wait!

I think the German version of the 2011 remasters (though to be honest, I might be confusing this with the Italian set) contained the horsefall, but the Russian dialogue wasn't translated into English subtitles.

Any idea if the Lionsgate discs are region locked?
