Blu-ray laptops - 1920x1200 screens, also a 42" 1080p HDTV.
Yes, there is a difference if you are connected properly and are the proper distance from whatever display you use.

Also, why would you swap out the BD player?
Blu-ray Disc players play DVDs fine.
