What a tone deaf response. Go watch the Grindhouse Video stream TripleHBK and several others has linked.

It goes deeper than "we're entitled/first world problems".

Huge news. Kino have just revealed they have a deal with StudioCanal. I asked if they had any horror titles, to which the Insider responded:

Yes, we do have some horror titles.

SC also did smaller deals with two other labels, so some of the essential horror titles and foreign films ended up with these two other labels.

We cannot confirm or deny any titles.
Surely the other label who've acquired 'the essential horror titles' is Shout, in which case it's almost certain they have the likes of Superstition, Link and The Manitou (I consider these 'essential' anyway) forthcoming. Exciting times!

I think Elvira with Arrow was Studio Canal

Fingers crossed for Dead of Night (1945)...

Pretty sure Elvira is a Lakeshore title, certainly Arrow don't have a deal with StudioCanal in the UK. I did consider the possibility that the label referred to might have been Arrow, but I just can't see them having the clout or resources to compete with Shout.

My mistake. The new listing for Elvira on Itunes here in the US that went up this week has Image listed at the studio not StudioCanal.

Huge news indeed. SC was one of those studios, like Paramount and, initially, Warner, who were against blanket licensing but now it appears they've changed their tune. Kino has the biggest deal with SC? Personally, I would've liked for someone else to tackle that library for the horror titles. Maybe VS has snagged a few movies since they've announced that 2019 will be a heavy horror year, which will include some supernatural-themed horrors/slasher titles (Superstition/The Manitou) although I was sure that Vestron via LG would release those. Nevertheless, some exciting developments.

With all due respect to Vinegar Syndrome, I think a deal with a major studio like StudioCanal might be a little out of reach for them. Moreover, it's not really their MO.

The Kino Insider has confirmed at least that the following titles are indeed with StudioCanal in the US:

And Soon the Darkness (1970)
Homebodies
The Manitou
Zoltan: Hound of Dracula
Parasite
Superstition
Link

It remains to be seen which ones will be licenced by Scream, but in any case Kino also have some horror titles so between them we should be covered.

Which is why I said "for the horror titles". I have similar reservations about Kino not being the right house for some of the SC horror titles

The Canal deal with Kino is great news. Thank goodness shout didn’t get their greedy paws on it.

Vice Squad is another title which should be with StudioCanal, that's one I could very much see Scream going for. If so hopefully they can get the original uncut version.

I suspect the two other labels with SC deals will be Shout and Criterion. I honestly don't think VS have the financial power or standing to make any kind of deal with a major studio, especially one which rarely comes to the table like StudioCanal (I think anyone who approached them would have to make it worth their time, so to speak).

Too far? Heh. Shout! point blank said on one of the Shockwaves podcast that they created the "Select" line for the sole purpose of giving some sense of collectibility. Otherwise there is nothing at all tying titles under that line together.

Select exists to put numbers on spines for OCD folks to obsess over.

I'm with the brown paper bag brigade. Spend the money on the transfer and sound. If there's any left over, then some exrtas. Press it. Put it in a brown paper bag and mark the title with a sharpie. Sell for reasonable price.

Screw the knick-knacks and paddy-whacks.

No, no, no. We got it all wrong. Complaining that we've been sent packages with not just defective products, but sometimes no product at all but are expected to pay higher prices is certainly a sense of entitlement.

It's our bad.

they don’t even have the 2 weeks early on their site now, which is no big deal as long as it’s on or before street date & so far even with the delays all the orders have arrived before street date. Complaining about prices is just silly & the majority of the titles minus Creepshow, Candyman & Critters are under $30 on the site. I honestly don’t care what some other schmuck says in some video rant. It’s the same people complaining & all others are just sheep. Mock me all you want but I’ve had no issues with orders since the delays & have been emailed on Candyman & Urban Legend arriving late, which is good enough & to me it’s
Progress.
