I just went to it last night. It was an entertaining movie but nothing too special.

Liam Neeson definitely made the movie better with his presence.

I'm starting to get tired of the "shaky cam" action scenes. Even though I like movies like the Bourne series, Quantum of Solace, and others. Don't get me wrong they are still good movies but I just get tired of quick cuts and shaking camera techniques. I think these movies would be even more entertaining if they would cut back on this type of filmmaking.

I really enjoyed it as well. It was very well done and the casting was great for the movie. I will get this when it comes on blu (hopefully NA will get the directors cut edition)

Loved it! Fantastic movie. I saw it a long time ago (we got it around 6 months ago in Australia) plus we had a uncut version as the USA one was cut. And i loved it, in my top 5 movies!

Yeah...on Yahoo it got a "C" rating based on 11 movie-critic reviews, however based on 2247 yahoo users, it is rated at "A-".

I guess sometimes the critics and the regular public don't see eye to eye

Entertaining and pretty straight forward movie. It gives the audience what they want to see, Liam Neeson kicking the crap out of the bad guys. Not sure what the body count was but I wasn't counting A lot of the hand to hand combat sequences are shot close up so it was sometimes difficult to see what was happening. Plus the hand to hand fights except for the last one were over very quickly. If you love action moves and aren't concerned about realism, you'll enjoy it.

+1 on all acounts. Liam Neeson was awesome! He was exactly that bad-@ss that the preview portrayed with his little monologue it was great!

The shaky cam thing is bad, at least this one wasn't as bad as the others, I don't think.

Definitely worth a watch. Only down sides were the over acting of the girl playing the daughter, and the "american" fight scenes (Shakey cam fights) that a few of the action sequences had.

Will be awaiting the blu for sure.

The setup is really corny. Everything leading up to being TAKEN is really silly and obvious. The daughters acting was awful!

That said after she is "TAKEN" off screen and the silly forced setup is out of the way this movie is AWESOME! I'm trying to think of another time I have rolled my eyes for a the start of a movie and found myself completely into the rest of it. Liam is great in his action scenes.

The camera work some complain about is not even close in frustration that "Bourne, Man on Fire, or Quantum of Solace can cause.(I enjoy all those movies anyways) Even though the camera did shake I could still see the car chase, unlike that mess of one in Eagle Eye.

So Taken is well worth watching, even if it has a cheesy, forced opening.

I really liked this movie. Liam Neeson was excellent in it. The daughter was kind of spoiled and the ex-wife, she should have been added to the list.

I really liked the
[Show spoiler]interrogation, and the visit to the old friends house.

A much better film than I was expecting. I quite liked the trailer, for once making me curious about the film itself. I would definitely recommend seeing this film.

Edit: Rob71, I personally did not like the first scene you mention, but it did not spoil the film for me.

I saw the movie this weekend. I thought the movie was good, but it isn't a buy for me. As others have said, the daughter was terrible. Plus, what was up with the way she ran? Like she was 5 or something. It was really odd.
Watching Qui Gon Jin kick butt throughout the movie was pretty cool.

I was utterly blown away by this movie when I saw it in the cinema. The unsung movie of 2008 and comes highly recommended by me.

I saw the trailer and thought it looked good, not your typical Liam Neeson film which made it all the more interesting. In truth, I was expecting something that would be nearly as good as Mel Gibson's Payback or Man On Fire. As I said, I left the cinema surprised at how brilliant it was - in my top five which isn't an easy thing. It was just imminently watchable, you felt for the main character and wanted to see him unravel the web of crime, the action was captivating and the soundtrack is brilliant (end theme in particular).

My favourite scene in the movie has to be
[Show spoiler]the scene with the Albanian's in the kitchen. The way he bluffs them and then gets Marko to translate that word, and you see the killing light go on in Neeson's eyes and he says "You don't remember me, we spoke on the phone a few days ago. I said I'd find you." It was said so matter of factly, all the others looked confused and then the penny drops and then....EXECUTION!

I bought the French blu-ray release in 2008 because I couldn't wait, it was great but unfortunately the French subs are locked. Now I hear the UK is getting the Extended Harder Cut. I wonder what will be added?

I...Can't...Wait!
