Well, to be fair, gory horror films have been around almost as long as the 'less-is-more' variety. It ultimately is just about what any particular person responds to or is affected by the most.

Exactly. When I think of classics, I think of TCM, Maniac, Friday the 13th, Suspiria, Twitch of the Death Nerve, Romero's Deads, Hellraiser. They may not all be over the top gore fests, but they all have their fair share of blood and guts. I also think that any person that says current horror movies suck and only old ones are good really need to open their eyes because they either are only seeing the PG13 crap, or they just WANT to hate modern horror movies. It's the same now as it was then, for every 4 or 5 good ones that come out in a year, there's thousands of horrible ones. If you can't find a few good horror movies for every year of the last 10 or 15 years, you obviously haven't been looking. Of course there's always going to be the people that say "Nothing will ever be as scary as when NotLD or The Shining came out" because it was the first horror movie to scare them, and they were 16, and have since grown up and become a bit desensitized to horror.

Clive Barker is re-imaging Hellraiser too if I'm not mistaken.

He is writing and producing. I believe the guy that directed Martyrs is directing.

Clive Barker is a horror genius. I would gladly pay ten bucks to see anything he attaches his name to

F13 is NOT a remake! It's a Reboot that cover the events of 1-4 and adds more on to it.
