- I generally don't like a lot of the Oscar-nominated movies.
Thats actually true.

I also prefer T2. I enjoyed most of arnold and stallone movies but didnt actually liked them for real. But enjoyed it!!! And while i like some of the oscar-nominated movies i can agree that most of them are avoidable.

The other stuff is just silly. Even for me

I can relate to that. I want to like them, for some reason, but I'm invariably disappointed when I see one.

I feel similarly toward comedy, but I do get some chuckles every once in awhile.

liking or disliking something written into stone is one thing, it's perfectly normal, but refusing to even see something for whatever reasons is... stupid.

I wouldn't really call it stupid, I think it depends on the reason. But then again, people are free to watch what they want, I'm not losing or gaining anything by it.

They don't have the best reputation, but I love McG's CHARLIE'S ANGELS and CHARLIE'S ANGELS: FULL THROTTLE: Two candy-colored, monumentally campy and energetic films that just wanted to give the audience a good time. Lucy Liu, Drew Barrymore and Cameron Diaz made a terrific comedic team (with great support from Bill Murray in the first film and the late, lamented Bernie Mac in the second). Actors such as Sam Rockwell, Justin Theroux, Tim Curry, Demi Moore, Kelly Lynch, Carrie Fisher, Crispin Glover, Luke Wilson, John Cleese and so many others took some eccentric roles and just ran with them. Still, that infectiously charming and good-humored tall blonde knockout Cameron Diaz was the standout, her eager willingness to engage in full-blown silliness never dampening her intelligence or sex-appeal (a quality she shared with many of the actresses in 30's and 40's screwball comedies). I really miss seeing her in movies.

And bonus points for the music in both films, which utilized pop classics and one-hit wonders to great and fun effect.

- I do not like Lawrence of Arabia at all. I find it is highly overrated and very boring. The acting is alright, but the controversial stuff is really not that controversial.
I can understand where you're coming from, it can be a bit slow paced and yes in this day and age the controversial stuff is virtually moot. But christ almighty it's a beautiful movie to look at. Much like 2001 it's one of the those "Experiance" movies where you just let it flow over you and enjoy the visuals. Just watch it on the biggest screen and the highest res you can find.

Same, i just have no interest in it

Same, the only horror movies i like are Comedy/Horror, they're a lot of fun. Apart from that the only horror movie worth any salt is The Thing, which is a masterpiece franky

Quote:

Same, T2 was vastly superior and all the sequels are more entertaining. But you have to give the original credit for kick starting it all

Quote:
- I have not seen any of the Rambos and don't ever intend to.
Give the first one a go, it's a heck of a lot different to what i was expecting, it's not a mindless action movie, it's actually quite touching. The sequels are pure action trash thou and what you expected them to be

Quote:
- I generally don't like a lot of the Oscar-nominated movies.
Same, most of them are self-indulgent bore fests (some are worthy thou)

Quote:
- Brokeback Mountain is in my top 5 worst movies ever.
I have no interest in ever seeing this. But it looks awful

Now my contributions to classic movies i recently watched, The French Connection is complete trash. The narrative is a complete and utter mess and if i had to read the wiki page to understand what hell was going on in the first half of the movie then it's failed as a movie.

The Maltese Falcon was OK at best, not sure why it was so overrated and it just seems your average movie of the time and Humphrey Bogart hammed it up with terrible acting.

On the bright side saw The Third Man which i enjoyed quite a lot

There is no such thing as overrated. If a lot of people like it, for whatever reason, then that is the rating it deserves. If you like it less, then you are entitled to your opinion, but that doesn't invalidate the cumulative reputation of the movie.

However......

There definitely is such as thing as underrated. Sometimes a movie is so intricate, or so far ahead of its time, people have yet to appreciate it's genius, it hasn't founds its audience yet, or simply not that many people have seen or even heard of it.
