When even Venom isn't getting a 3D Blu-ray release in the UK or France, there is definitely cause for concern.

It's like Sony don't want to sell any more PSVR units or support their own "3D World" - you wonder what kind of idiots are making these decisions.

Let's just hope this does well in Germany, Italy and Spain...

The trailer on the net makes it seem like there are 2 spidermen, but the trailer I saw in the theatre had over 10. There are alien spiderman, cartoon animal spiderman, female spidermen etc... All of them join forces to create this team of spidermen across multiple dimensions. It's a completely different trailer than the ones online, unless I've just missed one of the trailers on youtube
So it's kinda like The Green Lantern Corps, but with Spiderman?

Saw the premier showing of this today and it was fantastic. I didn’t know what to expect but both me and my son walked out loving the movie.

Good story line and wonderful animation. Lots of different characters from the comics and voice actors did a great job.

I won’t get into any plot specifics to avoid spoilers.

Unfortunately my premier did not have a 3d screening but I am sure it will be fantastic if released in 3d, either in movie or home environment. The animation seems made for 3d.

I dont like the new MS Marvel at all. and ther are other books that are just shoved with PC junk. Its why DC is selling more books right now.

Marvel has been PC before you guys were born. See the X-Men or read some of the things Stan Lee wrote in the bullpen.

Cool. Sounds good. Thanks for the details.

Good point. Back when they were creating the original, first Marvel comics, they had to abide by the morals/rules of the comic book code association or something like that, or there would be big penalties.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comics_Code_Authority
The above link lists the code rules from 1954.

This looks great, the story seems a perfect fit for animated 3D. Something for everyone, in my case the main selling point (apart from the 3D) is Nicolas Cage as Spider-Man Noir.

I just hope Sony don't treat this like The Emoji Movie and Hotel Transylvania 3 when it comes to the Blu-ray release, because that will be three strikes and they are done with giving a **** about animated 3D films and the people who enjoy them.

I'm definitely interested in seeing the quality of the 3D. The safe guess is they'll go for mild to medium 3D layering, but the style of the art is more bold, so there's a chance they could be bold and go for strong 3D.

Then the next hurdle would be to release it in blu ray 3D somewhere in the world hopefully.

The 3d trailers before and after Venom had nice 3d.

this better get a 3D Blu-Ray release or to hell with this movie. This is also an animation movie you can see it was made for 3D in mind.

The 3D shots of the city and him falling, look incredible with the colors and scenery as well as the potential depth. But yeah, maybe we should write to Sony or something before this is released, to let them know fans want this on blu ray 3D and Sony was supposed to be a leader of 3D, with blu ray 3D, PSVR, and so on.

I wouldn't be surprised if this is very mild 3D since it's from Sony Pictures Animation, but maybe Marvel had a positive creative influence on it.

Noticed that the film has an IMAX 3D option...

Smurfs Lost Village 3D had medium 3D throughout. But Smurfs 1, a mostly mild 3D conversion except for some pop outs. Open Season from 2006, that is how they should have kept going with the 3D. Strong 3D throughout and an excellent 3D experience compared to the milder 3D releases from Sony Animation ever since.

But here's hoping they got a new stereographer on board to amp up the 3D for a change. In the age of 3D cinema, too many timid 3D filmmakers out there who probably have no knowledge of the strong 3D in the classic 3D cinema.

So the movie was pretty cool... sadly the 3D was underwhelming. For the first half of the film, it's very mild. Minimal depth and volume. Things improve after that (more depth) but that's about it. Zero pop outs. Overall it reminded me of early conversions. 2.5D mostly, and mild to medium 3D at the end. Exactly the type of movie that makes people think 3D is overrated. Shame as it had great potential.

Thanks for the details, 3D4Ever. That's disappointing to hear it's looking mostly mild. Oh no... The movie looks cool, but that 3D sounds dismal. What theater did you see it at? Thanks for the early 3D review. And good point that there are too many stereographers who don't really appreciate the power of strong 3D, and too often play it too safe, resulting in boring, mild 3D, and giving 3D a bad name from those who hope for a great 3D experience, and then get a nearly 2D one while wearing sunglasses, as they might feel about it.

So compared to a stronger 3D conversion like in Ant Man and the Wasp or Infinity War, would you say this definitely pales in comparison to those?

This sounds like something Laika would offer for their 3D films, if this is as weak as reported. So much potential... I want to see this, but now Mortal Engines 3D has a chance since they're both releasing on the same day.
