Even Moore had groused that he was getting "...a little long in the tooth, even then" circa FYEO. Blame EON for failing to find a suitable replacement for Moore during the early 80s, and just going back to Moore again and again because audiences were already familiar with him.

He was going to old to play him pretty early on IMO. Moore didn’t age well. With that said, I liked his Bond for the most part.

Speaking of 70s , its like they had a fetish for bronze colored cars then lol

Watching Moores’s 6th film, Octopussy.

It’s just...not good. Bond as a clown and gorilla? Then he makes Tarzan yells?

Besides those Jar Jar size abominations, most of the movie just seems really boring and drawn out.

I like Moore, but not like this. I’ve a feeling I’ll be glad when I watch his last movie, A View to a Kill. Bring on Timothy Dalton.

Octopussy is the worst IMO. Diamonds are Forever is horrible but at least it’s sometimes so bad it’s good. Octopussy is just dull.

That timeline will fit in anticipation of the Bond 25 release on Feb 14th 2020. I will not be purchasing until we get solid PQ reviews of all the 24 movies. The purists will also be awaiting if MGM actually spent the time/money to fix the horrible PQ of Goldeneye (1995). See it for yourself, even basic cable movies looked better than Goldeneye. I'd rather pay a premium price than paying a discounted price at the time of release, as long as the PQ is truly the best then not worth shelling out your wallet until then. Also regarding the release date, MGM wants to protect themselves in the event Bond 25 is a critical misfire and does worse in the box office then Spectre. If the movie bombs then the 4K box set will be de-valued (meaning loss of potential revenue).
I'm pretty sure any UHD Blu-ray releases will be up to Universal. I doubt MGM has enough cash to remaster twenty-four films and/or pay for HDR grading. Obviously, Bond 25 will be released by Universal, and perhaps all of the Daniel Craig films as well, but I think the other twenty are way up in the air. Obviously, I want all of them, but I'm just not sure that will happen unless MGM and Universal allow third-party licensing. However, if they don't, it would be great if we at least got some of the classics from Universal, as well as a remastered GoldenEye, which will be celebrating its twenty-fifth anniversary in 2020.

They are all available on iTunes in 4K.

Everyone keeps bashing GoldenEye (myself included) but every time I bring up that it's now available on iTunes in 4k, I can never get any feedback on it. If I had an Apple TV or means to purchase, I'd do so in a heartbeat.

I still have affection for Octopussy as the first Bond film I saw in theaters (I was nine). It's goofy as HELL, but still has moments of genuine suspense, cool action, beautiful locations/women and some good laughs. It's one of Moore's better films all around.

Good lord...I just started A View To a Kill and the very opening scene has Moore skiing downhill as The Beach Boys play??? Have a feeling this is going to be a long one...

On the upside, I like Duran Duran’s title song

It's always fun reading/hearing other people's takes on the series. Me? I think OCTOPUSSY is a pretty strong film, overall. No doubt, there are cringe-worthy moments in that film (the Tarzan yell that you referenced being one of the most egregious), but they're generally brief, and the conclusion with Bond trying to defuse the bomb at the circus (who would believe someone dressed as a clown in that instance?), I found to be genuinely suspenseful. Louis Jordan is pretty good, as well.

I'll be interested to read your views on the two Dalton films. At the time his two films were new, I didn't really warm to him in the role (Connery and Moore were too firmly entrenched in my mind as that character), but his portrayal has aged very well (to me, anyway), to the point where I think he's just a mere notch below Connery as the best Bond!

If you can make it through this one you can sit through anything...and not only does it feature Tanya Roberts as The Worst Bond Girl Ever, there's actually a scene where Bond bakes a quiche...unforgivable!

I’m really glad you posted this, because as I’m almost done with View to a Kill, I was also thinking, “ She HAS to be the worst Bond girl ever.” Terrible actress and she has zero chemistry with Moore.

This movie just is one long slog.

But now on to the Dalton movies!
