This. If you treat it as an Alien prequel or Prometheus sequel I think it's pretty crap, but as a standalone movie it's well shot, has interesting ideas and exciting sequences. Ending sucks IMO and will probably never be followed up on though.

UHD looks amazing, as does Prometheus'.

It's great.

I kept my Bonus-BD (in fact I kept the whole 3D Slipcover set and just exchanged the 2D BD with the UHD).
I do not want to miss out on the "Furious Gods" doc - it's so awesome!

I started collecting just the ones that I wanted (I have 4). Problem was Tesco had the distribution rights and did a terrible job of marketing them. Plus their online entertainment website closed.

Only a few of the larger stores stocked them after that. Hence, the last release was Black Panther in June 2018. Tesco then sold off all of their stock at bargain basement prices, and no longer sell them.

Collector's are hoping that one of the other online stores will take up the reins, but, its not looking good.

I think some of the European online stores still have something similar, but they are not true Big Sleeve Editions.

One of the few discs I'd advocate for just on technical merit. It's that good.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol2, Back to the Future Trilogy and Valerian (3D) are still available from http://www.ebaystores.co.uk/Tesco-Ou...&_nkw=blu+ray&

Yeah, there will still be a few scattered around. Seems like the Big Sleeve Editions are dead and buried now.

I don't outright reject any of the first 4 films. I don't really demand that sequels live up to the original, and I don't take things like timelines all that seriously. I can enjoy a sequel as a tie in or as more of a stand alone. Just however it works best.

Just announced...

Quote:
A comprehensive and definitive volume telling the complete story of how Alien was made, featuring new interviews with Ridley Scott and other production crew, and including many rarely-seen photos and illustrations from the Fox archives.

In 1979 a movie legend was born, as Twentieth Century-Fox and director Ridley Scott unleashed Alien - and gave audiences around the world the scare of their lives.

To celebrate the movie’s fortieth anniversary, author J.W. Rinzler (The Making of Star Wars) tells the whole fascinating story of how Alien evolved from a simple idea in the mind of writer Dan O’Bannon into one of the most memorable sci-fi horror thrillers of all time.

With brand new interviews with Ridley Scott and other key members of the original production crew, and featuring many never-before-seen photographs and artworks from the archives, The Making of Alien is the definitive work on this masterpiece of popular cinema.

I'd prefer The Terminator, if we're gonna go down that Canadian road.

I’d love to see T2 and Alien 3 books as well. I still have the original making of T2 and it’s all sorts of awesome. Alien 3 is a bonafide masterpiece.

I guess if they're gonna do an Aliens 4K, we have to wait for Cameron to get around to approving it right?

But hey, we'll still probably get an Aliens 4K before we get True Lies or The Abyss on Blu.
