The Dali IKON on-wall is a very good on-wall speaker.

They play just as clean an detailed as the IKON 2, they don't play as deep though. 5 or 7 of these, and you will have a very nice sounding system which also plays music very well. You will also need a subwoofer, of course.

I don't know you're budget, but I just bought B&W SCMS as rear speakers, they could also function as high-end on-wall speakers for front and center:

Wow thanks for the quick replies.

I guess I would be willing to spend up to $400 for the most important things-- front 3 and subwoofer. Then whatever I can add on to the back at a later time.

Most important thing is that they're wall mountable.

And yes, I will be listening to music as well.

--Those Paradigm speakers look great, though there are tons of options and I'm not sure what suits me best.. Are they available online?

--The Ikon look perfect. Where can I find them to purchase?

Someone reccomended these: Polk r150

They are only $50 at fry's, and I believe they come as a pair. This is extrememly cheap... would these be worth it?

Normally with speakers, you get what you pay for. At least you can return them when you discover that they sound like crap.

There are actually two of these "speaker recommendation" threads, so I will just paste my other comment into this one as well:

REPOST:

Speakers, more than any other audio component, are purely a reflection of personal preference. Find a local store with a listening room, and go listen to which ones sound best to you. Be wary because some underhanded shops will connect lower end speakers out of phase to try to upsell you to the higher end models.

Take your own source CD... personally, I like to take 1812. Listen to the sound and the dynamic range to make your decision. Its important that the speakers sound good not only at high levels, but also at very low levels as well.

With this budget .. I suggest you just concentrate on the 2 fronts and save some money for a sub. A good sounding sub like SVS or HSU costs like $400++ already and I entirely agree with Iceman.

Paradigms are not available online.. check the dealer locator

Another option is to check http://audiogon.com/.

Goodluck!

see sig. i prefer b&w personally. eventually i'll be moving to 800 series or higher. i know b&w tends to (depending on speaker level of course) lack a bit on the low end, but they do amazing on mids to highs. combine with a good sub and you're golden.

but as i said, personal prefrence. go to a listening room and see what tickles your fancy.
