Hey-- I'm looking for a decent set of wall-mountable speakers. I have a 7.1 setup of wall-mountables right now, but they're trash. Can anyone reccomend a good set? I also need a subwoofer. Either certain ones that I can combine, or a full set. Wall-mountable seems to be my only option in my setup, but there are decent sounding wall-mountable speakers, correct?
I'm not looking for the best sound.. just something good to go with PS3/BD Movies. Thanks ahead of time. |

well, these for $500 would serve you justice!
KEF Home Theater Speaker System (5.1, youd have to get 2 more for rears?) KEF is a high end brand, and these bad boys are half price off... |

But what is it with you guys and small speakers? I like the larger speakers that have multiple woofers built-in, in my own experience I think they sound better. |

The Dali IKON on-wall is a very good on-wall speaker.
They play just as clean an detailed as the IKON 2, they don't play as deep though. 5 or 7 of these, and you will have a very nice sounding system which also plays music very well. You will also need a subwoofer, of course. http://www.dali.dk/us/page245.aspx?sub=266&prod=267 Last edited by Helicon; 08-08-2007 at 05:18 PM. |

I don't know you're budget, but I just bought B&W SCMS as rear speakers, they could also function as high-end on-wall speakers for front and center:

Wow thanks for the quick replies.
I guess I would be willing to spend up to $400 for the most important things-- front 3 and subwoofer. Then whatever I can add on to the back at a later time. Most important thing is that they're wall mountable. And yes, I will be listening to music as well. --Those Paradigm speakers look great, though there are tons of options and I'm not sure what suits me best.. Are they available online? --The Ikon look perfect. Where can I find them to purchase? Last edited by WeApOn; 08-08-2007 at 06:44 PM. |

There are actually two of these "speaker recommendation" threads, so I will just paste my other comment into this one as well:
REPOST: Speakers, more than any other audio component, are purely a reflection of personal preference. Find a local store with a listening room, and go listen to which ones sound best to you. Be wary because some underhanded shops will connect lower end speakers out of phase to try to upsell you to the higher end models. Take your own source CD... personally, I like to take 1812. Listen to the sound and the dynamic range to make your decision. Its important that the speakers sound good not only at high levels, but also at very low levels as well. |

I agree...maybe I'm a bit of a snob, but I wouldn't consider those for anything more than a computer 5.1 system (although kick-@$$ at that)....

There are two I am considering right now:
http://www.svsound.com/products-spks-sbs01.cfm and Polk-Audio-Performance-Bookshelf-Speakers (search for it on Amazon) Not sure which to get... |

when i comes to speakers....there is no substitute for size. if the funds are an issue just keep on saving. there is nothing worse than a pristine picture and sorry sound. as far as aubs go, ive got a couple of outlaw audio lfm plus' that will rattle your nuts out of your sack

With this budget .. I suggest you just concentrate on the 2 fronts and save some money for a sub. A good sounding sub like SVS or HSU costs like $400++ already and I entirely agree with Iceman.
Paradigms are not available online.. check the dealer locator Another option is to check http://audiogon.com/. Goodluck! Quote:
