Maybe non-anamorphic was the wrong phrasing. I should have said that it's not enhanced for 16:9 TVs. When you play the AB DVD the 4:3 image gets stretched out to fill the screen. You then have to go into the TV picture settings to fix it.

Despite my reservations, I've ordered the BD from Amazon Japan. It was dispatched yesterday morning (no slacking for Christmas

), and it arrived in Leipzig Germany today - estimated delivery Friday the 28th.
