I know other people who agree with you who don't like the character of Lana, but I'm always gonna like her. She's beautiful and the relationship that she and Clark can never have is what intrigues me even though I know how it will play out. Other people get tired of it, but I don't. It's time for Clark and Lois to get together, but I'm always gonna like Lana. I DEFINITELY think Kristen Kreuk is the right choice for her. I always have.

My wife ask a question that I wish i had an answer for and that was why do they keep bringing Lana back and then she leave after a few episodes...I said I wish I knew.
They finally had the season going in the right direction when Clark and Lois finally realize they have something and bam...Lana shows up and Clark gets all dramatic on how much he loves her.I really didn't enjoy the last three episodes at all and tonight would make four ,at least if you are going to have Lex in an episode have the real Lex....so when does Lois come back and how would she win Clark over...again

this has really summed up how i've felt too. i dont think they've been horrible episodes, but they definitely sidestepped from the incredible track the series was on before. im confident in the remaining episodes.

god this show just loves to go backwards. As always, when it was finally starting to move forward and the Lois and Clark characters were actually going somewhere, not just relationship wise, but mythology, they freaking ruin it by bringing in super Lana? Get the f**k outta here. I read this was her last episode ever....please let this be true! This show just takes me in circles...i'm getting fed up.

HA, if you've been watching smallville for a while you'd know there's no way lex would just go out like that....plus...um...he becomes one of superman's great enemies. i know this show strays from the superman mythology, but it definitely wouldn't stray that much.

right on, you cant kill lex that easy
how many times has he had his head bashed in, taken over by an alien, freakin crystal palace collapsing on him, and he still kicking!

i just hope he is in the series finale (whenever that may be)
i hear Rossenbaum agreed to come back for the finale if they have a part for him and he gets to wear a bald cap!

show hasnt been as good without him on it, still great, just not the same

as for the last couple episodes, to me they feel like they dont even fit into this season, maybe with the exception of the first one after the hiatus, i liked them but they just didnt fit right with me.

and the whole lex being played by someone else....

Lex played by someone else didn't bother me one bit.. I mean the best way to do it would have been to have Lex get that skin graft thing, then have it look like someone else after the procedure.

As for the rest of the season, let's get back to what this season is about... Clark and Lois... AND F**KIN' DOOMSDAY.

yeesh, he breaks out of that crystal thingy and then poof, noone hears from him in... 4 episodes? Clark can run that in a couple seconds and Doomsday hasn't even hit civilization yet?

That's what I said. Her line of, "The question is do you want what I want?"

OH MAN THAT WAS HOT.

Chill dude. I like the show as well. I can most definetly understand why you want it to go on. I want it too. But there are many factors at play here. I agree that so far this season seems stronger than the last but as we close in on 10 years on Smallville (wow) some things become obvious that you can't escape:

1. The cast is not immortal. They get old like everyone else and that will start to become a factor soon. You would want to see Clark played by another actor? I sure don't. Tom Welling is the man! Seeng dressed as "Clark Kent" last season (great episode I thought) cemented my opinion that Smallville has a future as a Superman: The Beggining kind of thing.

2. For better or worse,(I think for the better) the storyline has taken the Cast out of the High School/Small Town environment and have progressed their lives. As the show established in the beggining, a season was roughly equivalent to a school year so at this stage, what's left before "adult life"? Even with a thousand well written stories, you can't escape the math there. Clark has to eventually begin his life in Metropolis. He can't stay a farm boy all his life.

Smallville is a GREAT show. My opinion doesn't change that and commenting on it's weak spots doesn't mean I don't like it. Quite the opposite. I mention them because I love the show and would not like to see it go wrong.

Sadly, nothing lasts forever and Smallville is about to hit a milestone indicative of that. Most series end somewhere on their 8th to 10th seasons. The best example I can think of is Friends which one of my all time favorite TV shows. It lasted 10 years. It's last season was as funny and well written as any other but the cast grew up. It happens.

What would be terrible is for Smallville to continue past its prime. Then a couple of years from now we will be lamenting "those terrible 12th and 13th seasons" on this very thread.

I agree. I think Kristen Kreuk is incredibly beautiful and I really like the character.
Mind you it was great to see Clark and Lois starting to have feelings for one another and I hope the series gets back to that. I think Erica Durance is amazing.

Smallville is an interesting series that took a lot of liberty with the "Superman" universe. Because of this, I haven't regard it as a "Superman" series for a long time. Many of the events/encounters that happen in this show occur later in the life of Superman beyond Smallville and even beyond Metropolis. Having said that, there are still flaws with the way the series have been developed in recent years.

1) Having every major character in Superman's life encounters him as Clark Kent cause a huge problem when they should only have met him for the first time in his adult life in Metropolis (Lois Lane, Perry White, Lex Luthor, Oliver Queen, John Jones, the Justice League, Jimmy Olsen, and the list goes on). Granted that some of these characters do know his identity but for those know don't, how do you dig yourself out of that hole and reset their memory?

2) Introducing Lois Lane (see my previous note), if you really have to end up causing a weird love triangle once you start down that road. When her character wasn't involved with Clark, the Clark/Lana thing can work. However, once you start separating the Lana connnection to Clark and begin the Lois/Clark dynamic you shouldn't go back. Lana was gone. Clark's coming to terms with it and begin to connect with Lois. Lana shows up. Doomsday destroys. Lois disappears just like turning off a faucet and Clark is back to being head over heels with Lana. What happens to the feelings for Lois? Now it looks like, Lana is going away again. Is Lois going to magically show up and Clark just switch gear automatically?

3) Lex Luthor dominating every aspect of everybody's life. I know he's an important character in the Superman world, but if the Luthor character wasn't in the Smallville what would the writers use for their crutch? We have already seen the meteor freak of the week story line worn thin. The majority of the stories in the series have been Luthor, Luthor, Luthor. Of course, it looks like he was killed off but I'm willing to bet that they will try and come up with some way to wiggle out of this.

4) Like others have said, what happened to Doomsday? This was a bad choice to introduce into the series. This character is the most physically lethal opponent to Superman. Yet, the writers chose to present him as a guy that was in love with Chloe, manipulated by Brainiac, and wasn't that deadly to Clark Kent. This is a mindless killing machine were talking about. All of a sudden, he's nowhere to be found. Luthor, they couldn't get rid off, but this guy shows up and then disappeared?

5) What happened to Jimmy Olsen? Jimmy had an on again/off again romance with Chloe and then they finally married. On the wedding day, he was gravely injured. That's the last you saw of him. They shipped him off along with Lois to nowhere. There is no passing reference to how he was (live or die). On top of that, his wife, Chloe, just resumed her life as if Jimmy wasn't there still playing sidekick to Clark and Oliver. Shouldn't the wife be the one to go off and take care of her husband and not the cousin-in-law?

I like the performers in this show. I still watch this show but I think they have lost steam quite a while ago. They tried to introduced too many things in too many ways without the proper continuity even within their imaginary universe. I hope that they finally come to their senses and wrap this up and maybe go out with a story that can redeem some of these missteps.

1.) The show started when Clark was a freshman in high school so if you do the math then he would be turning 22 - 23 this year. Still not necessarily old enough for the show to end.

2.) Clark has started his journey in Metropolis on the show. Haven't you noticed that?

3.) If this particular thread is around 4 - 5 years from now then that would be very sad. I'm sure by then many new threads about Superman will take flight.

4.) I would love to see Smallville continue to go. Think about it. Just as you say if it goes past its prime there's also the mistake of putting on the costume too soon which you won't see Tom Welling do anyways.

The comics are different. That's true. Lana marries Pete in the comics and they definitely haven't foreshadowed anything to that at all.

1.) The show definitely takes certain liberties about introducing certain characters early on in Clark's life. I think that's part of the strength in the show. For example, it shows Clark's journey and how far he must go on it. The Legion episode in particular showed that they knew who he was in the future, but he was a long way from getting there. Clark continues to struggle with being raised as a human and having human relationships and embracing his destiny. To me that's what Smallville is all about. You see this especially when he wouldn't kill Chloe.

2.) Lana never disappears from Clark's life even when he fully embraces his destiny and becomes Superman. She makes a recurring appearance ever so often in the comics with Pete. Like I said above, she'll always be the one that got away and Clark will always love her. As much as he loves Lois in the future, he'll always love Lana.

3) It's not the first time that Lex was thought to be dead. If you've watched Smallville since it first came on Lex has escaped death so many times. It's important for Lex to be dominating. He has to embrace his destiny too a la the episode where he sees his destiny and he is dressed in a white suit with a black glove on his hand and it rains blood.

4.) They took some liberties with Doomsday, but it's not that bad, because like Clark he was raised to be human and that was what he knew until now at least in the show. And in the show he hasn't embraced his destiny.

5.) Yeah the questions about Jimmy are valid, but they took a back seat to Lana being in town. That's just the way it is.

The man is a Die Hard fan I give you all the props man. I hope Smallville has more fans like you. Just to fine tune what i was saying:

1) I wasnt talking age. Youre right he would be 22 or 23. I was talking about the fact that after three years of High School and several years of living on his own, he has to eventually begin his life in Metropolis which brings in number two...

2) Clark has clearly been in Metropolis for years. I meant begin his life as in living in Metropolis and working in the Daily Planet. We can't be too far from that. (unless he goes to study journalism...)

3) Can't I joke just a little? You know what I meant.

4) Completely agree. But even if Clark is in his 20's, Tom Welling, I believe is in his early 30's (31 to be exact). The show has to end sometime whether we love it or hate it. I think it can have 3 or four more good seasons left (not counting this one) if the writing remains strong and nothing wrong happens.

All Hail Smallville and its biggest fan! (Just having fun)

Default Some Info Regarding Smallville's Limitations

I was reading up some news over at Kryptonsite (one of the largest Smallville insider fan sites for those that don't know), and I came across some information I thought I'd pass along. Some of this I already knew, but some I didn't.

Basically, here is some of the things Warner Bros and/or DC Comics has insisted Smallville is NEVER allowed to do:

1. can't call Bart 'The Flash' (they had to use Impulse instead)
2. can't show us the Superman shield on Clark's chest
3. can't have Lois on full time
4. can't have her and Clark in a relationship or even kiss as themselves (i.e. they can be in "altered" states and kiss, but not normal)

Keep in mind these are different from "no flights, no tights" etc clauses (stuff that could be changed, but unlikely). The above provisions are part of Smallville's contract as an existing show, and rules that the producers and writers have pledged to follow to keep the show on air. Anyways just thought I'd pass that along if anyone was interested.

Basically, here is some of the things Warner Bros and/or DC Comics has insisted Smallville is NEVER allowed to do:

1. can't call Bart 'The Flash' (they had to use Impulse instead)
2. can't show us the Superman shield on Clark's chest
3. can't have Lois on full time
4. can't have her and Clark in a relationship or even kiss as themselves (i.e. they can be in "altered states and kiss, but not normal)

Keep in mind these are different from "no flights, no tights" etc clauses in Tom Welling's contract (stuff that could be changed, but unlikely). The above provisions are part of Smallville's contract as an existing show, and rules that the producers and writers have pledged to follow to keep the show on air. Anyways just thought I'd pass that along if anyone was interested.
But wasn't there an episode where the Superman shield (alien symbol) was burned on his chest? I remember some sort of scene in a phonebooth... wasn't he infected with red kryptonite during that?

Well, from the last we've seen of Doomsday to the last episode which aired, i think the show has gone (once again) DOWN hill. Lana and super powers?!?! Correct me if i'm wrong, but isn't it true that she NEVER had super powers (or at least for this length and reasoning)? And this "tough girl" attitude doesn't suit her character, who i believe never became the ninja type either.
