I know I've to take amazon disc specifications with a grain of salt, but the information on the Italian 4k Steelbook says it will have 7.1 sound and it's from Universal. I don't buy any of the two though.

Universal distribute Paramount's stuff in Europe, so that part's accurate at least.

Dunno if it carries over to home media, but Fox have been Paramount's Italian distributor since late 2017.

Okay, change my post to "Universal distributes Paramount's stuff on home video in Europe", then. Not kidding, look up any Paramount 4K disc on amazon.it e.g. https://www.amazon.it/Hansel-Gretel-...dp/B07G2P8V69/ and it'll show Universal as the distributor. Incidentally, ever wondered why Sony discs are often included with specific promotions alongside Paramount and Universal stuff on amazon.it? Because Universal also distributes Sony's discs over there.

Funny you should mention Fox though, as they and Warners are home video partners in Italy as well, hence any Fox or Warners promotions usually including the other's titles as well.

Universal and Sony is basically a single entity in Australia, and they also distribute Paramount. Bit of a monopoly going on there...

Anyway this will undoubtedly either have Atmos or DTS:X, most likely Atmos.

Universal is basically the English Language of media companies, particularly the way their music division absorbed Polygram and MCA and all their related sub-labels in the 90s.

They're now projecting $500 mil WW which would be fine with the reduced $135 mil budget. Add in home video/stream and it should be good to set up future installments -- especially if they play it smart and don't release right opposite two other "fanboy franchises" again.

I thought that might be the case but didn't know for sure as I hadn't heard who picked up Par's stuff after their distribution deal with Warners came to an end. Thanks!

As noted upthread, if most of the gap between the current $300M worldwide figure and this $500M projection comes from China then it doesn't really matter, as Par have already forfeited whatever they take in China against a $60M payment from Tencent.

Still, that means they've already covered their ass and a $500M gross will look mighty fine on a spreadsheet regardless.

Case in point: It's a Universal promo but there's gear from Sony and Par in there too: https://www.amazon.it/s?fst=as%3Aoff...rnid=510328031

Took my wife to see it on her birthday (her favorite films are the Transformers films). It was our first time seeing a film at a Dolby Digital screening. There are reviews I had seen online of Dolby Digital which showcased a really immersive experience, all the way to projections of the film and special lighting as you walk into the auditorium, so the fact that at least ours didn't have that was a bummer lol, but about the movie itself...

Heartfelt; the main actress was great; genuinely funny moments; the fight scenes weren't made up of that bajillion cuts, so you could tell what was going on, and it made the fights much more visceral, comprehensible, and fulfilling (not quite John Wick levels hahaha, but a lot closer to that than Taken *cues up jumping the fence scene*).

Did anyone else feel like the robots looked more real than the actually humans? Haha I was amazed!

If those are your wife's favorite films... take her to see more films! She needs to experience some good ones for a change.

Just saw it today. I enjoyed it, gave it a 3/5.

Likes:

1. Hailee Stainfeld was excellent, as usual.
2. The visual effects were awesome, robot design excellent.
3. Music score was pretty good.
4. Cinematography and editing was great.
5. No Mark Wahlberg in sight!

Dislikes:

1. Another brooding and slightly bullied teen drama.
2. High school mean girls AGAIN.
3. Bumbling robot destroys home AGAIN.
4.
[Show spoiler]Robot death fake out
, AGAIN.
5. Roll eyes moment,
[Show spoiler]dopey family gets involved in the mix, ala Transformers 2
, AGAIN.

Still a good use of my AMC Stubbs A-list!!
