Default What is a recommended sub for this setup?

My home theatre is being pieced together, and I am pretty much ready for the sub. I would like to stay with Polk since the rest are polk, but if one is out there for a better price / sounds better, I will definately buy that.

Center: polk audio cs2
front: polk audio monitor 60
rear: polk audio monitor 30

receiver: Denon AVR-1909
TV: sony Model: KDL-46Z4100/B
Blue Ray: sony 350

Also, I don't recall what sort of cabling is needed for the sub. I think it is a chord that has 2 male ends on each side; hwoever, I dont' recall if there is 2 of them or just one...Can someone help me with that? Or, what that wire is called so I can find a good place to buy one? My current one may do, but I dont't think it is long enough.

I would like the bass to put some good bass out as I do not think I'll be able to place it in the ideal placement of the room due to furniture and doors.

Definitely. It is probably your best bet for your set price range. If you had a larger budget, naturally, you would find better subs (or dual A2-300's ).

How much of a better sub will I be getting for say, 100-200 dollars more? Will it be a noticeable difference and worth spending that much more?

Attached is just a beautiful model of my setup

T = tower
S = sub
Ch = chair
R = rear
D = door
C = couch
TV = TV
D = door

It is actually sorta close to scale. I will be sitting in one of the left chairs more than likely all the time.

Will adding more money for a better sub make that much of a difference?

There may be a few good options for a couple hundred more, but to notice a good difference in quality, you may end up looking at the AV123 sub which costs hundreds more. You'd probably benefit more if you got dual A2-300's because dual subs are always better than one in HT. If you're looking for one sub only and are looking for the best you can get for the money, I'd say get the AV123 sub. The A2-300 is an excellent starter sub.

how big is the room in cubic feet? l x w x h
Are there openings to other rooms or is the room sealed?

Buying a sub isn't always just about budget. you should fit a sub to your room.

Let's up the price of the sub to around 7-800...what options do I have now? I am having trouble finding any of those subs listed besides the A2-300 for sale.

Also, if I had duel A2-300, would I place them at the same place? If not, then that would not be an option.

woudl my receiver have the option to put two subs on it?

The two doors on the top will be open to other rooms. To the left of the sub are some stairs, so a big opening there.

The sitting area woudl be, just guessing here as I am not home, is say 15 x 15 x standard ceiling, maybe 10'? with an openign to the left that no one will be at, and left of the sub (fireplace area).

if you don't have room for 2 subs check out the HSU VTF-3. I have one and am shamelessly promoting it, like everyone else does. It makes me giggle every time i watch a movie.

$699 + $100 shipping for black
add $100 for most other finishes.

I use mine like an end table and it looks like a piece of furniture.

The problem with openings is that you have to take into account what is behind that opening. My room is 16 x 16. If it was sealed I could get away with the ed sub mentioned above. Or I could have stuck with my HSU VTF-2.

Since it opened up to a large kitchen on one side and hall on the other I went with the VTF-3.

actually, the satin black is on sale right now for $629 which, in my opinion, is a steal.

VTF-3 MKIII

How does that stack up against AV123 MFW-15 Subwoofer?

both are great subs. personally i would have a tough time buying a 15" sub. from what i read when researching, the mfw-15 is better suited for larger rooms. in smaller rooms, you won't see the advantages.

If you were to get two A2-300's, you probably would not want to stack them as they'd be pretty tall but you could do so if you wanted to. You would have more output but the bass evenness throughout the room probably wouldn't be much better stacked. At that price, I'd look at the AV123 sub, this eD sub, this SVS, this Hsu, this Outlaw or this Titanic.

You should also add the Epik Caliber ($699 plus shipping) to your list:
