I'd be more excited for the Whole Bloody Affair if it was a 'remix' of the 2 volumes with new scenes/shots. keeping the same order would be redundant imo, just watch the 2 volumes back to back

I think the 2 volumes are very different, so I'd be more interested in seeing how a joint version would be like

The Korean blu ray from NovaMedia included the full uncut fight scene. Sadly no other news of a release in sight.

But in reality, Quentin has stated that ultra-violent Japanese films such as Streetfighter got X-ratings (Unrated), Tarantino knew the censors would never allow all the bloodshed and katana amputations. Commercially, he needed an R-rating. Therefore, he came up with the B&W idea. THIS is the only reason he added the black and white sequence; otherwise, imagine how much the MPAA would have asked to be cut!

And remember, even the B&W was not enough as it still got censored!
To summarise:
The O-Ren Ishii anime is censored.
Before it goes to B&W, cuts were made eg. Sophie bleeding out more when her arm is severed.
During the B&W sequence, several shots are “cut”
AND
worst of all, at the end, Sophie getting her other arm cut off is also censored!

The first time I watched the film, I didn’t even realise Sophie’s other arm is cut off, as all we hear in the R-rated is Beatrix saying “Give me your other hand” and a scream. Then her body rolling down the hill to the ER.

The “Japanese cut” (apart from the missing Star Trek reference and possibly the first melee) is the film Tarantino wanted to make, but his hands were tied by the MPAA. Thus, for the most part, the Japanese Region 2 DVD is the DC.
A Kill Bill Directors Cut Blu-Ray is on the top my wish list.

That's not true. He may have access to actual prints but he has mentioned appreciation for labels releasing obscure movies that would've otherwise not been given proper exposure to the general viewing public.

On the US BD of Vol.1, how are the subs for the Hanzo scene in the attic. On the UK BD, they've been based on the SDH, so when he speaks they shift all the way to the left as he leaves the attic.

They're on the left.



I re-authored both of these films moving the subtitles higher up as there were a few instances where some of the subtitles fell outside the frame. I could have centered the subs for this part, but actually liked how they were positioned to the left.
