Not really unless Shane Black is a secret son of John McTiernan.

Hasn't this movie "been written" since the dawn of mankind already? I believe it when I actually sit down in a theatre watching it.

While I don't agree with the particular slander used there, I agree that the removal of Paul Feig from the franchise was a wise decision. I really didn't like the direction he was trying to take the franchise at all, and neither did most people (regarding how much hate it got on the movie trailer comments on Youtube haha, so much negativity, and for good reason).

Though it's not entirely Feig's fault. Dan Aykroyd is just as much to blame as Feig for allowing the go-ahead of that awful script, and that's only for starters. I really think it stemmed from Dan biting the hand off of the first offer he got out of desperation to get the "Ghostbusters 3" idea ball rolling. Thankfully we can Thanos-snap that movie from existence and can give it another shot with this. Hopefully the comedy is much better and isn't as forced.

Yeah, Dan Aykroyd loves to tell the story about finishing the first draft while hanging out with Elvis at Arthur Conan Doyle’s house.

I question if they can really still pull off oldschool-style comedy at all these days though.

Not endless grossout gags in place of a story and characters, for one thing.

I guess that depends. The time setting of the movie could be a factor. Would it be set in the 90's? Present day? I mean the further back the setting, the more they can get away with old style comedy.

Both Reitman & Aykroyd were directly involved with the 2016 one (which I liked better than most but I have no intention of revisiting). There's no reason to believe they'd do a better job this time, especially with nepotism involved. That movie should have been gold with that cast. I'll bet Bill still backs out, and it's only Aykroyd & Ernie Hudson passing the torch.

He makes a sequel to A Dangerous Method, it’s ghost Freud and Jung discussing where the world is now and how it got there, and then the Ghostbusters bust in and those ghosts get boosted, roll credits!

Perhaps we can get a CGI Ramis? I feel the same way as you do. I think I could be okay with a CGI Ramis. It seems wrong to have a Ghostbusters without him.
