I'll bet Bill still backs out, and it's only Aykroyd & Ernie Hudson passing the torch.
Well one of the rumors floating around and I think back by Aykroyd recently was that the new movie was going to have a new team lead by Oscar and that Bill Murray's character was going to be in the movie as a ghost that helps him.So I think will have or should have a mix of old and new characters kind of like the new Star Wars films.

Anything would be better then the failed all female reboot, only thing good about that film was Thor acting a fool.

Just let it go already. I love the originals...yes both of them. However I don’t see much good coming out of this one. At least if it does happen they want to stay in universe. Straying from that was one of the many issues with the 2016 movie.

I agree with this, in spirit. Maybe I'll be surprised, but I can't help but think that he's too talented for this.

Seems like more of a Max Landis move than something that would've come out of Reitman.

Reitman hasn't made a good movie in a decade.

Front Runner looks good but until I see it, yeah I agree. Up in the Air was a while ago.

Wait, Tully was pretty decent. Forgot about that.

Still, Reitman has made a LOT of shit since Up In The Air.

I'd totally forgotten he directed that and had another movie this year.

I'd guess he isn't on as bad streak as I thought: Tully was pretty good, and even The Frontrunner was more of a wasted opportunity than anything bad (his direction was one of the issues though), but Labor Day and Men, Women and Children were awful IMO.

The original film has a lot of good moments, but the second was largely forgettable. Hopefully, Jason Reitman will honor Harold Ramis without it being "Egon's a ghost" or other such nonsense.

They could go full Tarkin with Ramis. I mean it's an option, if they can get the budget for that sort of stuff. Or they could do a brief CGI cameo of Ramis like Sean Young in Blade Runner 2049 if they have a limited budget. Otherwise they'll probably just explain where he went in the story (like Indiana Jones 4 subtly told us what happened to Indys' dad etc). Or they might not even mention him at all.

I had an idea that would connect the two universes. Sort of have the old ghostbusters in one timeline through a paranormal event have a portal opening up to the new timeline. Have Egon be a ghost that can’t talk and looks like the cartoon version of Egon from Real Ghostbusters tying that universe in too. Would’ve been glorious. Hopefully this will be ok.

Since no one can replace Egon without controversy, I wouldn't mind if they just went with the 3 remaining survivors of the orginal Ghostbusters.

Rewatching the animated series, The Real Ghostbusters since it first aired, and it's a great series continuation to the original film. Slimer is great too. Lorenzo Music, the voice of Garfield and Tummy Gummy, is great, but he doesn't capture the personality of Dan Akroyd.

What an odd choice for director. I really like Up In The Air and his work with Diablo Cody but this is very out of character from his work to this point.

I hear what you're saying, though I've seen directors will a wide range of projects and genres covered. Most recently, James Wan, who started off being known for horror films, directing action Furious 5 was it? And then Aquaman.

Well I’d prefer the 2016 movie to be connected somehow (even if it has to be an alternate universe) but I’m happy to get another movie.

I know Dan recently said a part 3 was happening and nobody really believed him. This sounds like a confirmation but I still have a hard time believing it.
