Unpopular opinion coming up!!! (Please don’t beat me up too badly)

I’m not sure how stoned one needs to be to enjoy this movie, but being totally sober certainly didn’t work for me. What a bizarre movie! I’m sorry, but I honestly don’t understand how so many of you seem to consider this a classic.
All I can say is that I’m sure glad it was on the movie channel, and that I didn’t waste my money on it (although I did waste 2hours of my time).
Sorry guys.
Let the beatings begin......
I'm not very persuasive, so all I can say is that I didn't really start to enjoy Blade Runner until after a second or third viewing, but that all depends if something in you is intrigued enough for another watch.

Sorry to disappoint, but I'm sure there's better ways to go about getting a beating.

Yeah I also started to like BR after multiple viewings.
I watched it. A couple of years went by, I watched it again.
And every time I liked it more.

So my second watch of the Final Cut on BD absolutley converted me back in the day to the admirers of this film!

I was a huge fan before I ever saw it. When I saw Alien in 1979 and it instantly became my favorite movie, when the trailers for BR started airing I knew right then that it was going to become my all time favorite movie.

I've never had any problem with people who don't like it. We don't all get the gift. For those who don't get it there is always Dude Where's My Car?

Yeah pretty sure this became my favorite movie the minute I first saw it and has been ever since. Granted that my favorite types of movies are sci-fi and neo-noir, and this mixes the two, plus I love synth tracks, so it was kind of a no-brainer.

I didn't really like it and started to appreciate it until the UHD came out. Prior to that, I had only seen the movie twice (once on DVD in 2003 and after that the BD in 2015). Now I have seen it multiple times so the UHD is what actually got me into Blade Runner.

Ironically enough it looks to me like this doesn't have the usual Warners 'little off the top' which is why the encoder has shat itself, there's so much fine grain bouncing around that this needed to be a masterpiece of an encode to handle it properly on a 66GB (inc the usual slew of audio tracks, this is Warners after all).

On the face of it it's still got a decent bitrate in terms of peaks and averages but the chroma channels have been badly compromised by the encoder because it's devoted so much attention to the luma. The excellence of the luma channel is enough to cover up most of it, I mean that's pretty much how YCbCr 4:2:0 works anyway (full rez luma, lower rez chroma as our eyes are less sensitive to colour than brightness), but when the chroma bitrate drops too low then it can get rather unsightly. Definitely improved on the Panny player though, I think their magic chroma upsampling is helping to even it out.

Same. I first saw it when the Ultimate editions came out in 2007. I saw the 5-disc set and had to own it despite not having seen it yet. I instantly fell in love and I’ve seen every version hundreds of times since(FC is my favorite). Greatest film of all time, IMO.

I'm one who saw it in 1982 and the dystopian future was a depressing thing for me. I personally enjoyed the positive Star Trek future much more but after seeing in at home I liked it more and more each time. After about fifty I think I'm there.

Yep. When I first saw it properly early 90s it instantly became my no.1 film of all time. And when I watch it again (and again!) I think to myself...what film is better than this? And I cannot think of any. So it stays no.1!

I'm sure some will say nostalgia is a factor but I actually have more nostalgia for movies like Batman '89 and Lethal Weapon. I mostly watched Blade Runner as a late teen on DVD.

I honestly don't know when or where I first saw Blade Runner, but it was a long time ago and I've loved it ever since.

The first time I saw Blade Runner was on DVD in 2000, on Dad's brand new Toshiba SD-1600, it was one of our first movies on the format along with Lethal Weapon 4 and A Fistful of Dollars.

I thought it was a cool looking movie at the time, but I didn't start picking up on the themes until I was about 13 years old, and it was solidified as my favourite film once I was 14.

I was taking a jab at the crowd who claim "you can only enjoy x-thing under the influence of drugs" like it's some kind of serious critique of the work when it's really just annoying silliness. I forgot to use quotation marks but I think I got my point across fine, granted I'll prattle off stream of consciousness every so often!

I'll never forget going to see BR on it's opening night , was rainy and chilly and only me and 3 other people in a huge downtown theater from the 30's with Art Deco murals (THE PERFECT ATMOSPHERE FOR THIS MOVIE ) .
I was in middle school and being such a Han Solo / Harrison Ford fan I had to see all his films opening night .
Maybe my all time favorite film ever .

Saw it for the first time in college as part of a class on early German cinema, because of the influence some of those films had on Blade Runner's aesthetic. I've always liked and admired it, but never really loved it. I think 2049 is better.

I watched Alien when I was 8, Blade Runner when I was 10 and A Clockwork Orange at 14 on High School. Living in Spain can be dreadful for most of things but also great for a few. I had these kind of overconservative parents and in their overly narrow conservative mind no sex meant "suitable for children", Alien has none and Blade Runner just a few kisses.
I saw A Clockwork Orange on first grade on High Grade back in 1989, can you believe it?
By the way, Alien shocked me the first time I saw it, logical, I was 8, but it still is one of my favourite movies, it's like a nerves roller coaster for me, I love it!

Looking to replace the last of my VHS tapes with 4k/Blu Ray. It seems that the current version of the Blade Runner 4K no longer comes with a digital copy or the additional cuts? Is the Final Cut version the only one included at this point? Don't have a 4K player yet and it seems like the Blu Ray included is not a newer remaster?
