I would watch the Blu-ray over the UHD as there is touch too much filtering on the UHD.

Some people live in a ginsu knives-sharp world, not in the real world like you and me

And miss out on 4X the resolution (2160p on UHD, 1080p on BD) and on lovely HDR highlights? No thanks.

It's a 2K master, and we've already established that the 4K image is much softer.

Also some might prefer the cooler color temp of the BD. Geoff's "Ginger Ninja" looks a little better with porcelain skin on the BD IMO.
If you gentleman actually used the same tools pros use on these movies, then you would see what is and what is not possible.

It has been established that the Blu is obviously sharpened.

i love this movie and the bluray was fine...I got the UHD and is not a 4K demo disc...simple...some parts are a bit better than the bluray-others are not...but i love this movie! the ending gets me everytime darn...kleenex time...
but i can't wait for a re-master 4k disc that really shines and is demo quality...2001 is demo! and i only have a crappy LCD 4k tv!
We should start a petition asap!!
Are we still an effective team?

Personal choice. They are very different. Also depends if you want ATMOS.

I saw the magnification of the bd. Like we both said. A little bit of ee does not create new detail. I prefer the DV version on iTunes for the hdr and warmer colors. Many Itunes movies have a compressed sounding soundtrack. This is not one of them. I’ve also noticed that newer iTunes Movies are very very close to the lossless tracks on bd and uhd movies. The have gotten much better over the last year or so.

I would probably notice the difference if I had a bigger screen and sat even closer.

However, viewing on a 65-inch TV about 10' away is just not noticeable to me. I think the movie looks lovely. I watch on a Sony Z9D with Reality Creation on Auto, and when I stand 2-inches away I do notice it makes it "less soft" in the fine details.

Ah well, it's also a good movie so whatever I wish they didn't spoil the Morgan Freeman / Humans underground angle in the trailers though =/ Would have made much more bigger impact on that twist...

I’m assuming you have Apple tv4k? I don’t remember from your previous posts. My amp is a Denon 930h with NHT super 2 main speakers. NHT super one center. Velodyne SPL 1200r subwoofer and Polk audio dipolar surrounds. So no sound bar setups here. I can clearly hear differences in many iTunes movies. Oblivion is better on uhd for sound but it isn’t a large difference.

Without wanting to poke holes in what you're saying, if you're watching it with the Reality Creation on then you're actively sharpening up the image, so it's no wonder it doesn't look mega soft, and at 10 feet away then being able to perceive actual 4K detail starts to suffer anyway.

Still, I resorted to the same thing with this movie when I didn't have a Panny player, I used the RC on the TV. Still looks a wee bit edgy like that, albeit from 7 feet away, whereas the Panny's sharpening is the dog's bollocks with Oblivion UHD (Luma mid and high both on +6, edge correction to +1).

I don't know why people are still talking to Rocky and try to learn him about how the thing is because he is an arrogant son.....he his version of how things should be is right.

Rocky wouldn't know how a movie should be or look like.
Rocky wouldn't know how a good PQ even if it feel down his lap.

The only truth is Rocky's Truth, no one else matters.
