If you have any UHD BD remux on mkv I suggest you to do this test: connect the HDD or flash drive where the UHD BD remux is to your TV's USB port and play it with the TV's built in player (I know unless you have HDMI 2.1 I think you will loose lossless audio, but we are talking about video here), then play the UHD BD remux with your UHD BD player, needless to say this must be connected to the same TV as before. Pay good atention to picture quality in both cases and check what you see... |

I finally got some problems.
Last month I had two major freezes when I played something from USB. I had to unplug the powerchord as the player was not responding to any button pressing. Even turning it off wouldn't work. And Jurassic Park: The Lost World (US Best Buy release) has two scene skips around 36 minutes and 92 minutes if I recall correctly. Can't tell if it is the disc since I own only one UHD player. |

As for streaming, I don't do that either but I wouldn't take the two playback methods as being some smoking gun. Panasonic's streaming decoder in their players doesn't even output streaming in 24p (it's fixed at 60Hz) so I'm not surprised that there are differences in the silicon between TV and players, I've already said there is, and when you're dealing with such ultra-heavily compressed content as streaming then small improvements in processing can make noticeable differences. But as heavily compressed as UHD Blu is it's still vastly better than streaming for compression so any perceived gains that you're getting from your UHD remuxes will be minute, if at all. But if you want to keep playing your UHDs through the telly, then be my guest. |

Had my first issue, earlier. Lost all audio, but not picture.
Thought it was either the HDMI lead, or my Sony HT-XF9000, (which is not even two months old), was doing some weird shit. Ruled out the soundbar pretty quickly, audio from all other sources was fine, and an HDMI lead swap showed the same problem. Turning the player on and off again didn't solve it, nor did a factory reset via the menus. It took a hard reset to sort it out. Not what I want to be trying to solve at 2:30am. |

So I found this thread after picking up an X700 2 days ago and being confused why my TV was saying Dolby Vision on a non-DV title (Bladerunner 2049). This has seriously been going on for over 7 months straight now with no fix from Sony? Almost unbelievable. No indication it will be fixed? I already had to return the UBK90 because it had non-defeatable HDMI-CEC
![]() Also are people still able to get Atmos from Vudu? The best it will give me is DD+ (that's after finding some other gem of info online that the only way to get that to work is by disabling some poorly named audio enhancement setting) - on that subject, the menus on this thing are about the worst I've seen on any product made in the past 10 years. So Atmos doesn't work in Vudu, but Dolby Vision does. And Dolby Vision isn't included on the disc, but Atmos works. Is this real life??? Sony? |

This is basic functionality. You shouldn't have to pay a premium price just to get a stupid feature to work properly. The player obviously knows whether the movie was encoded with Dolby vision because if you press the info button it will tell you. Even the LG player could do this correctly.

Ok, so having a problem with my player that is super weird. Was trying to play my new Planet Earth 2 disk... menu plays fine, when I hit play screen goes black and nothing. I can bring up the pop up menu, pretty much do everything, but it doesn't actually play. When googling the issue I see tons of people trying to play the disk on Xbox one X with the same issue, but nothing on the Sony. Anyone have any ideas? Seems to be the only thing with problems, I tried 3 other disks and they all played just fine.

Added "DV On" and "DV Off" sequences to my Logitech Harmony remote. That's how I roll. Now sony will probably release some update that will automatically detect Dolby Vision.
