Oh, sorry, I thought you were talking about the same email I got from Regal, which mentioned the BD as part of the 35th anniversary celebration, but didn't specifically say it was a 35th anniversary edition. Their page does clearly show that though, which is misleading, unless there is actually something different about it.

I wish the anniversary print was something other than the old BD cover art, I would have picked it up if it was.
Also, anyone else’s $5 combo mysteriously drop off their Crown Club Card? Mine was there right after I bought tickets but it’s gone now. |

I’m with you about the print. Every movie I saw last year that offered one I jumped on it. Elm street is one of my all time favorites and I may pass on it. Hell, because of inclement weather I may have to pass on seeing it tonight. But the poster was a missed opportunity for something really cool.

This was quite an experience for sure.
Good news: We, in fact a DCP for sure. Nice image and the sound was great (did this get a new master or something?) Bad news: The hard drive was corrupt and had re download and there was a 15 minute delay. But we got free passes, skipped the trailers and get right into the movie. Not a bad deal. Was awesome to finally see this on the big screen. Last edited by CelluloidPal; 02-13-2019 at 02:15 AM. |

Was not able to attend the screening tonight, so I'm going to watch my DVD copy instead.
As for the anniversary, I still think SF will be releasing a NOES box set sometime this year. Especially since it's an anniversary year for the original. How cool would a 4K box set be? (Although probably unlikely) |

I saw it last night at Red Rock Casino theaters and it was a blast seeing it on the big screen.
Takes me back 34 years ago at age 4 when i watched it with my parents and big brother. Still one of my favorite horror films. I'm willing to bet Scream Factory might do a 35th anniversary CE blu-ray or a boxset of all movies with new 4K scans and new extras. |

I know it hasn't been officially announced, yet we all know its coming. So what are the chances these screenings, will show the 4k version we will get on disc this year?

Apologies for the bump, this seemed like the most appropriate place for it.
I saw NoES at my local theater last night. They're doing a limited run of horror movies all this month, 9pm on weekends. It was fun to see this on the big screen, and it was actually my first time seeing it in a theater. I was kinda hoping there would be some secret 4K remaster that would be used for the DCP, as has happened with some other movies, but it was the same almost 20-year-old master used since the Infinifilm DVD. It's not the worst master of its era - grain is retained, it's not overly-sharpened, and the colors are well-saturated - but the blown out highlights really stand out. Interestingly, the poster outside the theater had a 2021 copyright date, suggesting this is literally the same DCP used for the re-release this thread was talking about. The movie still holds up overall if you can accept an 80s horror movie, with all the synth music and vintage electronics that entails. I still hate the ending though; you can tell the bit with the car and the vaguely Ronee Blakley-shaped puppet being pulled through the window was tacked-on, but Nancy turning her back on Freddy is also kinda anticlimactic. Everything kinda runs out of steam once Nancy brings Freddy out into the real world and sets him on fire. I am more curious to check out the other films in the series now, if only because I know they get more inventive with the dream sequences and I'm a sucker for practical effects. |
