I don't think CR/DF will have any issue at all with overstock. In my experience most collectors try not to have bootlegs, foreign or otherwise, in their collection when an authorized release is available.

My order for SOAWN (from the first batch of 200) has yet to be shipped out to me, and I'm on the left coast.

They are shipping by order number, but they are up into the higher numbers so it should ship soon. Then they will get to the new orders. DD has confirmed that the release is halfway sold out and they are working hard to get the orders shipped out.

And how the hell would you know this if you aren't an alt-account for someone there?

A few customers have posted their order numbers when announcing their order shipped, here and on facebook. I know because I can count, in an upwards direction, correctly, and remember when numbers are sequential. I assume you can too, chances are you just didn't notice, which is easy to do when there's a film-release frenzy on the boards. But, jumping to anger and accusing me of working there is a bit extreme. You could have just asked how I knew and I'd have told you just the same.

Remembering little things like that is entirely passive for me. I just noticed people were going up, sequentially, on the various posts. Although, I had been checking the sites obsessively, to see when my order would ship. I am one of the few who admits to actually liking SoaWN, even with only three stories.

The basic, bottom line is that Dark Force is trying something a little new - mix in a little bit of wrasslin' promotions, a little bit of reality show, a little bit of Code Red sales tactics, a little bit of black humor, a little bit of the macabre... People aren't used to this in the Blu-ray world - its usually just "here's the release buy it," end of story - which granted is a bit easier to deal with but also far more boring. For this release, its promotion combined with pent up demand created the perfect storm and overwhelmed DF, I am sure they are just as surprised as everyone else how fast this is selling. Yeah its not as fast as one of the established longtime players, but for a 1yr old indie startup label with a new webstore that launched like a month ago its doing quite decently.

Some people are frustrated they missed out (again), a few were frustrated they had to buy a bundle after the individual copies sold out (though honestly, those bundles were a good defense against scalpers without having to enforce a quantity limit).

All I can advise is to subscribe with instant email notification to this thread, and I try to keep people updated when I hear about drops, follow DF on Facebook, and watch around 8PM PST since that seems to be a common time DeFalco likes opening the store. DeFalco also drops hints throughout the day on Facebook that the store is going to open/be restocked.

Instead of looking at it like "**** these stupid games," look at it as "the thrill of the hunt!," and it will be a lot less frustrating. Even if you don't get it on the first or second drop, if you take the above steps it will be virtually impossible for you to miss out on this title IMO unless you are the unluckiest person ever or don't have a smartphone.

The real queston is, when this title inevitably sells out, should it be repressed? Of course, everyone is going to say "yes!", but past limited edition business models like Twilight Time have been utterly decimated by repressing more copies fully intact with all features (and sometimes more features) as then no one takes the limited aspect seriously. If you are going to repress, like Arrow does often something needs to be removed off the disc to retain the value and draw of getting hyped about and getting in on the initial run. Otherwise, people just bucket list the title. But I'm sure this will be an unpopular opinion.

That's called being a good, normal business. It should be just as simple as here's our product, buy it. There shouldn't be any reason for these unnecessary games that DF likes to play with this release. This is the reason people hope the really good films get releases by VS or any other label. This went from a movie I wanted to one I no longer want to buy unless an overseas label releases it.

On the "there shouldn't be any reason", you may have meant "there is no reason", and, to that, I say, you are right, there is no reason for DD to be who he is or for you or I to be who we are, because none of us are beholden to the others. We don't owe each other any explanations on why we are the way we are. I'm fine with the fact that DD has chosen wrestling-style advertising for DF, while some others are not, which is the way it should be, since we're all free to decide. I just don't see how that is any different from accepting the advertising style of, let's say, the magnificent Morowitz.

Taking that example, Morowitz is really good, has achieved in the last years, with his labels, on his own, some spectacular releases, and I am one of his loyal customers. Do I love that it is a bit difficult to keep track of what he's doing, when films are coming out, which of his three stores I'll be ordering from, what's going where and on what format and on what date and in what order....

Not even a little. I currently have no idea of what date I'm meant to order the next two releases. I still buy every blu he puts out and will continue to do so, probably until I die, and that's life.

There's too much unnecessary judgment over the issue of DD's wrestling-derived style, and too little concern over the quality of the releases, with first reports of SoaWN describing a really wonderful transfer. It seems as though it never occurred to anyone that Bill, a man who has lived in the persona of The Banana Man, hired a well known wrestling host (anyone remember the lovely Katrina), and who has chosen to work with a wrestler, might just like this kind of advertising.

DF is distributing Bill's SoaWN, added to SB and SA. Street Law is still new to stores, and wonderful by the way, as are Swinging Barmaids and Steel Arena. DD is putting out Forced Entry next and has said MMI will be coming out, hopefully by Spring, fingers crossed. Point Doom is on the horizon. Does there really need to be so much discussion of advertising, games and whatnot?

It's a blu ray, not the Lost Ark. I don't want to hunt, I want click a URL, enter my credit card and walk away. Boring is normal. Boring is good business. When I buy from amazon, I don't want someone to come up behind me and hit me with a steel chair.

On the other hand, they could try transparency. "We think the demand for Sex with the Headless Corpse of the Virgin Astronaut will be about 500 units. But we're a small business and cant afford to get stuck with unsold stock. If they sell out and there looks like there is demand for more, we'll repress more down the road."

There, problem solved.
