Dune was released on 3D Blu-ray in France, Germany, Poland, Korea and Hong Kong and the USA.

It's also available from Amazon India, but you'll need to use a re-shipper or a friend with an Indian address as Amazon India don't ship internationally. Please avoid the initial Indian release as that has a problem with the 3D disc in that it is just the 2D disc with a 3D label.

All these Dune casting announcements have built up to Warner Bros. finally announcing that the Denis Villeneuve-directed Legendary production will hit theaters during the pre-Thanksgiving frame of Nov. 20, 2020. Dune will play in 3D and IMAX.

Eric Roth, Jon Spaihts, and Villeneuve adapted Frank Herbert’s classic novel. Set in the distant future, Dune tells the story of Paul Atreides, whose family accepts control of the desert planet Arrakis. As the only producer of a highly valuable resource, control of Arrakis is highly contested among the noble families. After Paul and his family are betrayed, the story explores themes of politics, religion, and man’s relationship to nature as Paul leads a rebellion to restore his family’s control of Arrakis. Legendary’s Mary Parent and Cale Boyter produce with Villeneuve. EPs are Thomas Tull, Brian Herbert, Byron Merritt and Kim Herbert for the Frank Herbert estate, with and Kevin J. Anderson serving as a creative consultant.

Dune cast members include Jason Momoa, Rebecca Ferguson, Timothee Chalamet, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Javier Bardem, Dave Bautista, Charlotte Rampling, and Stellan Skarsgard.

I hope it's utilized well since I read that the 3D in Blade Runner 2049 was weak.

If one can get used to the narrator's unique way of speaking in the video above, there are a lot of details of what Dune is and what to expect in the new film. I never saw the full first film in all these years, but might have to check it out again. Only saw bits and pieces on TV in the distant past.

Since the film is set for 2020, no theatrical previews yet.

Hopefully the 3d in this one is stronger than in BR2049. The 3d in BR2049 was decent but like others have said, it could've had stronger layers and depth. Roger Deakins have said himself that he isn't a fan of 3d, which explains the dialed down 3d in that. But for this one, he won't be coming back to film Dune considering he has filmed almost every movie Denis made.

Many consider the Lynch film to be a flop/disaster, but IMO even with its problems it's one hell of a SciFi film just from the story alone. I can't wait for this remake. I'm actually going to pull it out and watch it this weekend now that I'm thinking about it

How central to the story is the search to stop the source of the deadly Spice in the film, Dune? I heard it was edited down from 4 hours of footage, down to 2 hours.

But judging from the just-released trailer the movie would greatly benefit from 3D! According to the Wiki page it is scheduled for release in IMAX and 3D so hopefully this comes to fruition!

I’ve never found anything to suggest this is going to be in 3D. It’s probably not a positive sign that DNEG list it under visual effects with credits for those individuals responsible. But there’s no mention of Stereo work. https://www.dneg.com/show/dune/

Yes, imdb is listing 3D as well so I think there’s a good chance that this gets a 3D treatment somewhere.

Edit checked Imdb and yeah they mention a 3d version in the technical specs section. Off topic but doesnt look like The Suicide Squad will have 3d which is kind a bummer.

Suicide Squad directed by James Gunn, who also did the 3D films Guardians of the Galaxy 1 and 2, would hopefully add 3D, but who knows these days with the state of theaters trying to make a comeback.

On topic, watching the teaser and trailer 1 of Dune, it looks mildly interesting, but as far as 3D, I'm not sure the cinematography lends itself to great 3D shots.

Looks like a combination of dark, foggy, silhouette style lighting, with the exception of the day time outdoors scenes.

I'll likely check this film out even so. Want to see the original but never got around to it in all these years...
