I recently watched all of them again on UHD.

IMO the first one looks the best and is still the best M: I movie to date (closely followed by the second ). I wish that at some point in the series, they would have gone back and steered more towards what De Palma did with the original. I really would love to see that.

The 1st one is an amazing thriller in my eyes especially since ton cruise never actually uses his gun in the film, which for an action novie is amazing

Enjoy! I for one absolutely love it!

Even if it is hacked to pieces and has pacing issues. My second fav M: I movie and my second fav John Woo Hollywood picture (Hard Target would be my first).

Incidentally the odd difference in colors on the UHD is distracting IMO. You can see it a couple of times somewhere at the beginning (albeit very minor) but once the showdown begins between Ethan and Sean, it becomes very evident and subsequentally annoying. And it's not an entire sequence that looks different from the other, it's on a shot to shot basis. I don't remember the regular Blu-ray having that? But other than that, I'm perfectly happy with how it looks.

I always liked it, I hope they release the unrated cut one day.
And I am also glad they didn't do a cheap seats remix on the audio, this was always my 5.1 show off disc, now on 4 formats.

Also never noticed how many shots in the chase use a double on the bike, that would never happen now

LOL. Yeah, those stunts doubles are rather obvious. Same with Hard Target.

Spotted that too, yep. What weirded me out is that it almost looks ungraded at times, it's got this really pale yellow look to certain shots. The colourist had probably lost the will to live by that point.

Aaah yes, I seem to remember you actually pointed that out already last year and made a joke about that in the progress. Yet again at the expanse of this excellent movie but admittedly, it was funny.

Cruise would do it all now

What, that he'd stand in for Van Damme? I approve of this.

I love this series, but I'm not sure if I can justify the triple dip...
