I really loved the finale at the docks too.

I feel the same way about IM3 that I do about X-Men Origins: Wolverine, there's parts to like even love about the execution (Liev Schreiber as Sabertooth, the story following him and Logan through the wars into Vietnam, even the casting of Reynolds as Wade Wilson) but ultimately where it takes it from there and future installments pushing it out of continuity kind of retroacts any moments of brilliance.

Going with the PTSD angle was fascinating and surprisingly mature, but with where they decided to take the Mandarin after Favreau set him up with Stark's kidnapping in the first film was disappointing. Stark finally had a chance to face off against something bigger than himself, that wasn't just another adversary born from his ego, and we got two people he pissed off at a party one night.

It would be like getting to Endgame and finding out Stark created Thanos in a test tube as a side project to Ultron during Avengers 2. Add to that whatever happens seems to be ignored afterward. There's no mention of the Mandarin again, Trevor, Killian, Pepper's superpowers, Stark's PTSD and then they had to go back and say "no wait, there really is a Mandarin, that you'll probably never see" in one of their shorts which'll likely also be inconsequential.

I'm not sure what you mean unless you're talking about how the Deadpool movies ignored the Origins version of Wade Wilson.

And no mention of Extremis ever again - even though, in theory, it could have been used to heal Rhodey.

Mandarian is mentioned again and Trevor stars in the Marvel One Shot that was attached with the Dark World home video release.

Extremis wasn't an exact fix for everyone. People were known to explode. Obviously Pepper survived it but Rhodes may not have.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't they remove the Extremis from Pepper in the epilogue?

I would like to see the real Mandarin come around in a future movie even though it is unlikely to see RDJ do another stand alone film. It would be a great swan song for the movie series to end on. The way things have been going, they'll probably have a movie with the real Mandarin, but instead of Iron Man, they'll have started an Ironheart franchise with Riri.

As for Wolverine: Origins, I think it is a great "short movie" as long as you turn it off right when Stryker orders the scientists to wipe Wolvie's memory. Then you can pretend that the memory wipe worked and a whole Winter Soldier thing was going on until he snapped out of it and defected to Canada to do cage fighting.
The only downside? We miss out on the funny scenes with the Blob.

Wow! We really have derailed the heck out of this thread!

Technically Days of Future Past altered history, pushing the events of X-Men: Origins out of continuity, since Logan ends up with Mystique rather than with Stryker. Somehow by altering those events Wade must've been born later since going by Origins continuity, he was at the least in his 20s-30s shortly after the Vietnam conflict. Reynolds himself wasn't even born until 76, a year after the war ended. The cameo from the X-Men along with Quicksilver's Nirvana shirt seem to place the events of Deadpool in the 90s though, despite him not even becoming a mutant until recently.

Exactly. Granted, it seems they healed Rhodey as soon as they hurt him. I'm still confused by that scene. If they couldn't have caught Rhodey after Vision shot him down, they probably would've paralyzed or killed someone like Falcon. Anyway, as much as I'd like them to try the Mandarin again, the best I think we'd get is maybe something less consequential like a villain spot on Agents of Shield or something. I can't see him coming back into the MCU movies since a twist on a twist is asking a bit much of the fans. Well he isn't the real Mandarin but the real Mandarin does exist and you'll see him next week kind of thing.

You are correct.

"As promised, I got Pepper sorted out. Took some tinkering." - Tony Stark voiceover, right before we see him get the shrapnel removed from himself.

The New Mutants thread has somehow become a Shane Black thread. Come on, New Mutants surely can't be as bad The Predator (one of the worst films of any franchise)?

We don't know where the Deadpool movies are placed. Not yet.

Wade's birthday has been altered MUCH BEFORE Days of Future Past.
Sebastian Shaw was a time traveller, he came back to the early years of 1900s and altered the timeline in many ways.

Though I guess this becomes an issue of semantics, I wouldn't say that out of the most 'current' version of the timeline is the same thing as being out of overall continuity. It's still part of the history of the original version of the timeline ( and of course part of it takes place chronologically before the focal point of the timeline change ). The Xavier we see in Dark Phoenix is supposed to be the same person who looked into Logan's mind in DOFP and saw his memories from the original timeline, including part of a scene from Origins.

Other content in the Deadpool films makes it look like they're set in the 2010s, which makes it somewhat hard for me to take that X-Men cameo scene at face value as opposed to kind of overlooking it as a gag.

You know there's a serious lack of news/nothing to talk about regarding a film when the topic has shifted this much.

Here are few New Mutants rumors from multiple sources. Some might be true. Some might be false. Some of them actually seem to conflict with each other.

[Show spoiler]

X-23 was supposed to be added to the film in reshoots, with Dafne Keen returning to the role or Hailee Steinfeld replacing her as the character.

So, The New Mutants is intended to take place post-Logan?

Rumors about Jon Hamm or Antonio Banderas playing Mister Sinister were supposedly false.

Rahne Sinclair/Wolfsbane (Maisie Williams) and Danielle Moonstar/Mirage (Blu Hunt) have a lesbian relationship.

BUT, that could just be a slight exaggeration. Supposedly, they only kiss once during a game of spin the bottle. Not really a relationship.

Word is that test screenings were actually positive, and did as well as screenings of the first Deadpool.

BUT, another word says test screenings were awful.

Reshoots haven’t happened yet and speculation is rather than proceed with them, Fox’s new owners, Disney, will instead just release the film in its current state on its Disney+ streaming service.

For now, The New Mutants remains on Fox’s release schedule with a Aug. 2, 2019 date, but that schedule is expected to be overhauled shortly after Disney completes its takeover of Fox.

From what I understand, we're not allowed to post review videos of films here, but we are allowed to post news videos. I haven't heard anything otherwise.

I personally try to stay away from rumors, usually, but when there's not much else to talk about, at least it lends to speculation and discussion.

^ There are a few YouTube movie news outlets that are solid. John Campea is certainly one of them. He reports the facts, shoots down a lot of rumors, and when he speculates, he is well-reasoned.

I believe the "no video reviews" rule here is simply to limit self-promotion.

I don't. I would love to see a horror aspect with the X-Men. Which makes sense, because if your body was mutating, it would be horrifying. We even got elements of this in both the comics, Legion, and The Gifted. I really hope they don't treated way too lighthearted. Mutation should be terrifying.
