...wha?

Are you talking about an in-wall speaker? You'd use screws, some speaker wire....

I'm so confused.

First step: hold speaker at location where you want it

Second step: as you are holding the speaker, have a friend quickly drywall a wall around the speaker

presto...you have an in-wall speaker!

I'm not sure I follow, but if you've run the speaker wire in the wall, you don't need any "material" to hold it there. Just pull it out through a hold and connect it to your speaker.

Maybe he means conduit or wire chase? At the kind of power some of you guys drive to your speakers the wire should probably be plenum rated - not much to do with holding it in place in the wall however just for free run and no conduit used type situations. I have never paid attention to the speaker wire to see if it says it is plenum rated. As much as they charge for it, it should be!
