I’m looking forward to listening to the director’s commentary on this one. The commentary on Get Out is excellent and I left Us with more questions than answers. Hopefully the commentary will provide some good insight.

This was such a great film. I don't think he was trying to make as major a statement with this as with Get Out. But there are layers about identity and what makes a person who they are. Plus that ending is a whole basket full of questions there.

Oh and lessons learned, do not go to Santa Cruz! Between Vampires and doppelgangers, it's not safe.

I’m assuming The Lost Boys.

The Lost Boys, yeah! We shot in Santa Cruz and the first scene of our movie is there.

Oh, it’s the same beach?

It’s the same beach, it’s the same amusement park. And it’s even 1986.

The Lost Boys came out in 1987, right?

But there is a reference to The Lost Boys shooting by the carousel. They’re walking down the Santa Monica boardwalk and the mother says, “You know they’re shooting a movie over there by the carousel.”
