I seriously doubt i was pushing it too long though that's a possibility.
Sometimes when it turns on it's already reset without the hdmi detected screen.

My ps3 is a 60 GB and it's still got the stock HDD haven't upgraded it yet.

Hasn't done it again...yet but i wouldn't say it won't ever happen again .

A thought comes to mind. You might try replacing the HDMI cable and optical cable. A bit of a shot in the dark, but either could be responsible.

Optical cables in particular are very fragile. You have to avoid bending them. It you make any sharp 90 degree turns with them, it can damage them. If you don't know about this and treat it like any other cable, it will get little fractures in it and fail intermittently (or completely).

My cables come from monoprice.com so i have my metal tiped fancy toslink 6ft.
and my hdmi 1.3 going to different selectors a 1.3 4 way hdmi selector from
monoprice and a 4-2 toslink selector i got long enough agao i don't remember where i found it other than it was online.

I knew cat 5 was fragile like that but i hadn't heard toslink was handle with care
cable. With all the shielding and plenty long i doubt it's being strained though
as a precaution i turned off disc auto start. I'll just have to wait n see if it happens again.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Oh no. You have that quite backwards. Cat 5 ethernet cable is actually rather durable. It's only the connectors at the ends that are a bit flimsy. Fiberoptic cable is the only variety of cable where the cable itself is fragile. Not because of any lack of shielding... it's durable enough that way... but because the fiberoptic strands have little tolerance for bending. They snap internally if they are bent more than a gentle curve, and it's difficult to tell that this has happened.

Anyway... no matter who makes your cables and switches, they could potentially be faulty. If the problem persists, I would recommend first omitting the switches from the arrangement and just connect the cables from your PS3 directly. If it still persists, change out the cables.
