I really liked it, like other Ryuhei Kitamura movies (Azumi, Versus, Aragami, SkyHigh - didn't like Alive)

Same here I was able to catch this at a sorta near by $1.00 cinema when it had its brief run.

The theater was just about as spooky as the movie's atmosphere was.

When I told people what I was going to go see or what I had went and saw....well yeah they asked if it was a porno.

The movie wasn't a knockout but I did enjoy it. It had it's moments and Vinnie was excellent. It's worth a viewing for sure just to see an actual horror story told unlike most of the PG-13 crap we usually get. Not sure I would blind buy this though without seeing it first.

Default Midnight Meat Train Video Quality

I keep hearing that MMT has an extremely grainy picture. Can anyone help me out with this? I know bluray.com said the PQ was fine, but another reviewer said it has the most grain he's ever seen in a film on Blu.

I don't want to buy it on Blu if it's really distracting. But I do love this movie.

Any help would be welcome...

Well I saw it on HD Demand.. might be the same as the blu ray transfer or could be very different. It was grainy in the background..and an overall darkish look to it.

Yes it appears grainy, because that's how the film is. Whoever you read this from apparently can't distinguish grain from dirt. Grain is what builds the image. It's a good thing. Now sometimes director's will choose to add the appearance of more film grain to get a more gritty feel (or for whatever reason they like). But if you're asking if the film is transferred badly, then your answer is no.

Nothing to worry about. Read the review from this site 4.5/5 on the video.

No offense, but this site isn't really a good gauge. I'd wait to check out ALL the reviews. This site hands out 4.5/5 and 5/5 PQ grades like it's free candy.

BullS___. They do not. And what's more they freaking backup their claims with 1080 line screen caps. Know any other site that does that with all reviews? No? Then shut up.

Director's intention. Simple as that.

Wow.

I agree with your bolded line, and can see where your coming from with the rest. I might have been a little more restrained though.

Are there two versions of this film? On amazon.ca there is one for director's cut and the other is unrated director's cut.

the cover is almost the same for the two except for the difference i just mentioned.

Is it a mistake and one is an old cover that wasn't used?

Director's Cut

Unrated Director's Cut

Blu-ray makes it easier to pick out things you might never notice otherwise, but I can't imagine missing (opening scene continuity comment):
[Show spoiler] the three, well at least three, distinctly different facial blood-spatter make-up patterns on the guy in the opening scene! I'm not usually too picky about such things, but it sure stuck out like a sore thumb for me! Especially his forehead...

FYI, for those who didn't know, Best Buy's regular price for this movie is the same as Amazon's current sale price of $24.99.

Default Grain is necessary for the Gore scenes to look right.

If this movie was super clear then the entire movie would not be brutal and well scary. I just watched it and want to watch it again so take that for what ever you think. Why do I want to watch it again already? Because Mahogony is really a new Horror Icon like Clive and everyone wanted. He is the most scary guy I have ever really seen in movies. I have seen them all. His face just cant get out of your head. You know? I know one thing it sure is great getting movies you have never seen on Blu Ray.
