Did KL say they have no more Godard's as part of the 31 remaining unannounced titles? If so, it could still be KL releasing them.

I think Sinister Cinema or SWV put this out years ago on DVD. Time for an upgrade!

Re: Devil's Kiss

It was actually Image Ent. who put out the DVD under their Euroshock banner many years ago.

That SC list is awesome. Lots of French films especially Alain Delon and Jean-Paul Belmondo. Plus there are many British films I will be getting alongside those spaghetti Westerns. Already got the Essential Melville set but this is great news for all Melville fans.

Both of them are with Criterion, they'll most likely release them on Blu-ray later. I don't think the North American rights to the 2 films are with Studio Canal.

We do not have anymore Godard titles in the SC deal. Pierrot le fou was taken by another label.

But curiously no Les Choses de la Vie/The Things of Life, probably his most successful release in the English speaking world. I thought Columbia's US rights lapsed long ago.

Another label? So then not Criterion and Pierrot le Fou definitely does not sound like a Shout title.

Wonder if it is with Lionsgate or if a fourth new label stepped in to get a SC deal?

Arrow and Cohen are the only other ones I can think of immediately.

I think Rad would be right up Kino Lorber's alley.

It may've been successful a long time ago, but we think we picked the right 3 of 8 Sautet titles available through SC. Classe Tous Risques would've been great, if it was available.

I wonder if Arrow has a deal for the US only with SC? It would sound like a prime Arrow Academy title.

I did not say that. We don't want to confirm a title for another label, the other label could be Criterion.

Lionsgate had carte blanche, they kept whatever they wanted to keep. Kino, Criterion and Shout were the first three labels to get deals done, since then other have come in and picked up some titles, who they are, I don't know, but those are two good guesses.

Were any Carolco titles available for licensing, or do those remain with Studio Canal/Lionsgate?

It's rumored to be Film Movement for a package of 1930s-70s French and British titles and some post-1980 stuff.

Lionsgate put out certain SC titles for DVD & BD and only held streaming rights to the titles they think wouldn't sell well physically. Their rights to most of the titles they held streaming rights to or released on DVD prior to 2008 are expiring piece by piece (with the exception of most of the Carolco output that was inherited from IVE/Live and a few SC titles Lionsgate and Anchor Bay released in recent times such as T2, the Rambos, and Evil Dead II).

There's rumors that the SC titles Lionsgate released on DVD & BD post 2009 (like The Third Man and Ran) will likely expire 10 years after their release dates, which could be why Criterion is holding off on a large SC deal until they can get the titles they previously released back in the collection.
