It’s star-studded hijinks on The New Scooby-Doo Movies: The (Almost) Complete Collection, which includes 23 highly-entertaining episodes available on Blu-ray. That loveable Great Dane and the Mystery Inc. gang encounter some of pop culture’s most legendary names, including Jonathan Winters, Dick Van Dyke, The Three Stooges, Cass Elliot of The Mamas & the Papas, Laurel & Hardy and many more, as they embark on their mystery-solving adventures.

Quote:
Fans will get the chance to relive their favorite celebrity guest star moments form the Mystery Inc. tooniverse thanks to the must-own combo of Warner Bros. Home Entertainment’s upcoming The New Scooby-Doo Movies: The (Almost) Complete Collection ($59.99 Blu-ray/$54.97 DVD) and The Best of the New Scooby-Doo Movies: The Lost Episodes ($29.98 DVD). Hitting shelves on June 4 (just in time for Scoob’s 50th anniversary), these sets feature episodes with icons like Don Knotts, Cass Elliot, Davy Jones, the Harlem Globetrotters and TV’s Batman & Robin.

WBHE is also set to release Best of Warner Bros. 50 Cartoon Collection – Scooby-Doo on July 30, a collection of the best episodes from every Scooby-Doo series especially compiled to mark the golden anniversary.

“Some of the classic Scooby-Doo episodes fans are the fondest of, are the ones that feature celebrity guests. With these brand-new collections, viewers can now own some of the best celebrity-centered Scooby-Doo episodes in the Scooby-Doo catalogue,” said Mary Ellen Thomas, Vice President Family & Animation Marketing. “It’s Scooby-Doo’s 50th anniversary and to mark the occasion, we decided to release some rarer Scooby-Doo content that has never fully been offered before. If you’re nostalgic for some of pop culture’s biggest celebrities, you won’t want to miss these delightful collections.”

This is an awesome annuncement for the hard-core Scooby Doo fans.

I have the original release on DVD of THE BEST OF THE NEW SCOOBY DOO MOVIES that has 15 celebrity-packed episodes from the one-hour tv show.

But I see this new collection is on Bluray and has 23 episodes....I wonder what is missing that makes it ALMOST complete?

Possibly lesser episodes with not as well known stars that ether want a lot for their appearances or have estates difficult to work with.

For obvious reasons, even though MGM would have been willing to make some dough from Warner, provided likeliness rights wouldn't be an additional matter that is.

Oh my God, yes! I absolutely love these! I'm just a bit sad that they're not coming from WAC. I hope somehow we get lossless mono, but I'm not counting on it from WHV.

I hope the Addams Family episode is the only omission, because I remember really enjoying the Phyllis Diller episode, and I don't see her name mentioned...

EDIT: I see the series only has 24 episodes over both seasons, so hopefully all the other episodes should be there.

Indulge me for a second. Why would they put out the movies before "Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!"? Seems like an odd decision.

I’d say that since Batman TAS sold so well, they’re using this to test Scooby’s popularity and since Batman is involved in the series, they’ll get Batman fans buying also. Also will get more sales since some episodes are new to home video.

If this sells well, I don’t see why they wouldn’t release the original since it’s already fully remastered in HD.

I just noticed that there is only a $5.03 price difference between the MSRPs of the Blu-ray and DVD versions ($59.99 vs. $54.97). I hope this doesn't mean that the Blu-ray has had corners cut, like unreasonable episode counts per disc and lossy audio. Ideally, this should be a four-disc set at least, with six episodes each on the first three discs and the remaining five episodes on the last disc, but again, this is WHV, so I'm a little bit nervous...

The movies may be ready to go, but not Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! Is the latter even available anywhere on digital in HD?

It's available in HD on iTunes. iTunes also has a few other Hanna-Barbera shows in HD (Pac-Man, Help!... It's the Hair Bear Bunch!, etc).

It’s on Amazon and Boomerang in HD too, even the so called third season.

I noticed Amazon mentioned the series was available with "Boomerang on Amazon", but not as a separate purchase. Is there a way to tell that a series is in HD without already owning it or having an active subscription?
