...also, leaving out House of Horrors (1946) probably isn't going to endear them to the nominating parties for the next Rondo awards.

Why? I don't think they have a grudge against House of Horrors, it will probably be on a future set with The Brute Man. I would have preferred them not to do what the dvds did by mixing Paramount but it's not that big a deal.

I hope that Scream is "holding" Hammer's THE DEVIL RIDES OUT for a Halloween release.

Yeah apologies, I should have been more clear on that.

I don't think Paramount did too many horrors in this period anyway, less still that haven't been released now. The two Bob Hope comedy-horrors are among a handful of others IIRC.

The two big ones are Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1931) and Island of Lost Souls (1933). The former was sold by Paramount to MGM prior to their 1941 remake (so now owned by Warner Bros) and the latter was put out by Criterion awhile back.

Not sure if there were any other significant pre-code Paramount horror films.

^ Murder by the Clock is one many want to see. It has some interesting Poe/Femme Fatale elements.

Does Universal own The Monster and the Girl? I love that film, hope to see that.

Also curious to know if Universal has the original film elements to One Body Too Many.

Well, in fairness, I wouldn't say Shout has neglected those eras either. Their catalogue lists a host of films from then.
This has been the biggest year (so far) for those of us that have love for the older classics (if you consider the '60s and '70s old) so I appreciate the love we are getting for a change.

edit: ok, not exactly classics but loved none the less!

I'll probably try and get Lust for a Vampire and Universal Vol 2 down the road. Just so many stuff to get lately.

The Reptile is a day 1 buy for sure. Lust for a Vampire I'll look into more before deciding. I'm loving all the Hammer coming from SF, especially since I've only recently gotten into them.

I love the 80s and 90s horror films, but I also love Hammer films. Scream has put out so many great films from the 80s, there's not a huge amount of big name 80s horror for them to release without doing more double dips and I'm not a big fan of that.

I'm loving all the Hammer announcements and the classic Universal stuff is neat as well, but not as high priority for me as the Hammer releases. Hammer films have such atmosphere and I fell in love with them at an early age.

If Scream had been able to mix these older films in with their 80s/90s output in past years we probably wouldn't get as many complaints, but I understand that people may be disappointed to see a month of "old" movies, but there are people who probably felt that way when they were releasing the 80s stuff as well.

As someone who's really gotten into Hammer a lot over the last 4-5 years, I am loving all these announcements and looking forward to many more. I love my '80s horror but I've been loving the Hammers just as much.

...because it's wrong to nominate a Rondo award for a release that carries over every movie from from this DVD-R boxset except the title that feature's the award's namesake?

I think Universal sold off all rights and elements to The Brute Man prior to it's release, so that probably won't be included on any future Universal set.
