Half the production run on A5-350's is currently sold out already which is a good thing. We'll just need to compensate on the next run. This really is helpful for us getting something to baseline".

Considered both of the suggestions already (great minds think alike?) The PS3 is BEST ventilated on the bakers rack. The Oinker is a beast and the shelves on my stand are rated for only 50 lbs per shelf only (not including the top shelf), so I've considered putting blocks underneath the bottom shelf's support bars to actually have the force of the Oinker directly transmitted to the floor beneath. I think that according to the physics, that would work, but I'd hate to be wrong and end up with a broken bottom shelf. I'm not sure how much force the tempered glass can take...

Default A2 -300 Ordered 2-16-2009

I placed my order last evening with Alex. I ordered an A2-300 with the hour-glass feet option for $15. He stated that the scheduled production run would be completed by March 20th (in 32 Days) and that ALL product produced would be shipped at the same time. I'm obviously very excited and want to extend a thank you to all on this thread for there insight, recomendation and personal experience with this product.

Well i received my A2-300 today! Pics to follow tomorrow as i am at work right now :-(

It really was larger than i thought it would be, dominates my little home theatre room lol, but i dont mind, if the lights are off and your wathching a movie your not gonna see it anyway. Took me a little time to get the settings right. i.e. dead zones in the room, had to move the sub here and there till i got it right, then came the LEVEL,Phase, and crossover settings. I put the LEVEL at 1 o clock, Phase at 11 o clock, and crossover all the way to the right - this works out just fine

The first song i introduced the A2-300 to was jermaine stewarts 1986 classic "We dont have to take our clothes off" which was like hearing the song all new again! really tight punchy bass, not at all boomy. Then after i got the level, phase settings etc all configured i played the bass heavy and my god it never sounded better "hallelujah - happy mondays" - just perfect.

Then i popped in Transformers and i was going to watch the whole movie but i had to get ready for work so i just went to certain scenes, what can i say it just sound amazing, like being at the cinema type bass, cannot compliment it enough. I am going to rewatch all of my BD's in time just cus i love this sub so much.

As for the staff at ED, they were extremely helpfull, i can safely say the best customer service i ever recieved, whether i had to contact them using the instant chat service or call them up they were always willing to help me out. Thanks guys! and thanks for one heck of a great subwoofer!

Disappointed that by some strange miracle I'm not going to get my Woof faster than anyone in history, but...

Very nice! its good to see it can go down to 16hz.

Question, does the A2 internal settings get bypassed when using the LFE imput? or do you have to set both the sub and the receiver?

Default A2-300 Delivered - More Lighter

I ordered the A2-300 back on Jan 12th and it was delivered yesterday. Unfortunately, I am on a business trip and will not be able to play with it until this weekend when I get back home. However, in the tracking info, it stated that the shipping weight is only 68 lbs which is a few pounds lighter than previoulsy advertised. This is probbaly attribited to newer, more lightweight components, but just curious if anyone noticed any differences with the lighter model.

This may be difficult to answer as you would need to have listened to both the old and new models. Thanks.

A3-300 update. Im keeping the A3-300 and giving it to my dad, Im still waiting on my new a5-350. But i do have some bad news, the A3-300 started farting, now it farts occasionaly, it used to not to, once again the level is only at 1/4. The Velodyne it replaced has never farted, i have had it since 03, it would kick off before it would fart. Im really nervous about these ED subs, could that be why they are using different stuff in the new ones? I placed my order for the a5-350 on 1/30, when it comes in i am going to put it through hell for a couple of days, if it fails, im goin to flip. Based on the performance of my A3-300, i cant recommend ED to anyone and im scared to death the new one will not be up to par. I have had this sub since January, Im changing what i said weeks ago, not a good sub.

The Velodyne CHT-12 is a better sounding sub than the ED A3-300 and its
5 years old and does not supposedly have the output the ED amp has. I honestly think the amp in the A3-300 the LT/350 is pure junk and hope they changed amp manufactures on the new ones. I cant believe my sub farts!!!It used to not, but now occasionaly it will, the driver is not blown i have tested it. Sorry ED your last model of the A3-300 is junk. If i were someone who hasnt been in HT since 1998 and had nothing but joke subs in the past, i would think this was a great sub. God i hope my new a5-350 isnt anything like my a3-300, i would have went with a different sub manufacture, i want to give ED a chance.

That "fart" is probably it bottoming out. What you are hearing is probably port chuffing becuase the cone is moving but it's not making usable output.

If you are so unhappy with the A3-300, then why did you buy an A5-350? Why not just get a new velodyne

Sorry to hear that Nathan. But, hopefully this might help ease your concern. In eD newer models, you're going to be able to push more power before you get into clipping, which should solve the auto off issue you dealt with. Plus, they'll be front firing, which might give you the extra kick you're looking for.

Heh, I wouldn't even suggest it at that point. I would just recommend to go back to Velodyne. You must be pushing them like crazy though man.

No not really...I was just saying sense he already has that A5-350 on order and is concerned about it not performing. Don't get me wrong, I like my sub, but then again, I'm sure a lot of people would like to own a $1,000 Velodyne. I wouldn't mind, but it certainly wasn't in my budget, the A2-300 was. That's why I got one. And it performs better than most of all entry level subs. I just hope Nathan finds himself a sub because I know what it's like without one...it's not fun at all.

Meh, you misunderstood because I didn't clarify in my pronoun choice. I was talking about him pushing his sub too hard if its bottoming out.

The reason I say not to even suggest eD at this point though is because it seems like nothing short of a Velodyne (which I have no doubt is an excellent sub as well) is going to make him happy.

True.

But You have to really wonder how hard he could be pushing it. 1/4 on the gain is pretty low. That's where my A2-300 is at, but they're a totally different beast. You have to wonder if the A3-300 was a gremlin all along for eD. They even said in their last blog:

A3-300

Interior volume has gone up.
It will only be sold with one significantly upgraded speaker. Displacement is up 30% (more down low)
New speaker is unique to say the least. Neo / Ferrite hybrid. 25MM one way xmax.
More output.
New amplifier designed to filter some input clipping.
More overall SPL
More extension. Noticeable under 25hz Vs. older A3-300
Price & Ship Date TBA with some more information.
Improved bracing. Bracing is now recessed in each part of the cabinet. Nothing can “swim”. 100% inset bracing. Very cool.
Front firing by popular demand.
100% EFS construction. Better materials than the competition.
Proprietary driver engineering. We think the best
Standard matte finish at no upcharge.
Only available in a no holds barred upgrade over the old A3-300. Very similar in size.
Will ship same day on release. Part of stocking inventory production.

I am pushing it hard. I backed it off some. I need a bigger sub and a bigger sub i have on order. I was just worried, but im pretty sure the big 550watt 15 i have on order will be big enough for me. Im starting to think that since this sub is down firing that also could be some of the issue, as i am used to a forward firing sub. My new one will be forward firing. As for my dad when i took the a3-300 to his house he loved it. He is buying it off of me as soon as i get the a5-350. Im just hoping that the new a5-350 dwarfs my older a3-300. The a3-300 almost gets me to where i want to be, so hopefully the a5-350 will.

ps- measuring with an spl meter, it is amazing how moving your sub an inch can get you more or less.
