IMHO, I would move the sub out of the nook. The location for the sub would depend on where it sounded the best. It may take time to move it around the room to determine the best spot. Center the TV in the middle of the nook. Bring your L & R speakers to the front of the nook and space them evenly on either side of your TV. If you can move your TV further back on the stand, put your center speaker in front of the TV (centered) on the stand. I think this would improve the front sound stage dramatically.

As for your surround speakers, I don't know the complete layout of your room. If you go here: http://www.thx.com/home/setup/speakers/51.html ,
it might give you a better idea of where to put your surrounds.

Once you get your speakers moved, run the Audyssey again. Listen to your set up and if it still doesn't sound good to you, then maybe consider other speakers. The Klipsch F-1s are the tower speakers to your system and are timbre-matched with the C-1 center.

Forget mounting them on the wall or ceiling. Those aren't true dipoles or bipoles
but Klipsch's own unique surround design, Wide Dispersion Surround Technology™ (WDST). Please read this Q/A link at the Klipsch web site. See: Q. Where is the best place to put surround speakers?

Actually you have quite a bit of flexiblity on placement according to Klipsch. You don't even need side walls for these. They can be placed in the corners. I am not at all familiar with the WDST design. I can't offer any good advice except to contact Klipsch if you need more info for proper placement.

So, I guess my rears are OK behind the listening position? Do you think it would make a diference if I moved the one that is in the corner to the side wall and left the other one where it is against the back wall?

You can try it that way. If that doesn't sound good, I would try various locations until you are happy with the sound.

OK, I swapped the sub and right main speaker. This allowed me to move the TV stand over to the right enough to bring both mains up to the start of the niche and toe them in a bit. No new pics, yet.

My next question is whether the Klipsch Synergy F-1's are considered an upgrade or downgrade to my current Infinity Primus 250's? If they are an upgrade, I will buy a pair for $400. If they are not, I will buy an Infinity Primus 350 center for $200 to timbre match the fronts. Any help is appreciated.

Or...get 2 of these: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...2E16882290017? Then I obviously need to get a center to match, but I could replace the Klipsch sat's with my current Infinity's.

Basically, I have about $400 to spend. So, either spend $200 on a matching Infinity center, or find a L/C/R worthy of an upgrade in my budget.

I am getting "upgradeitis" from reading these threads everyday.

Do the center first, then the front L&R, then the surrounds, or the sub.
Center has the largest portion of soundtrack coming through it (at least in DD, not sure with DTS, probably the same though).

Whats your opinion Driver? Spend $200 and get a Infinity 350 center to match my fronts, or spend $400 and get 2 Polk Monitor 60's and a CS1 center to match?

Also, consider that I do have a fairly large room as it is shared with the kitchen.

It depends. Have you heard the Monitor 50's compared to your current speakers? The Monitor 50's and CS2 can be found cheap but that doesn't mean a thing if you don't like the sound.

OK, I have these, http://www.amazon.com/Infinity-Primu.../dp/B0002ADEU6, for my fronts. I can upgrade to these, http://www.infinitysystems.com/home/...USA&Country=US, for $238 for the pair and move my curent fronts to the back. Do you think it is worth it to get a 4" Midrange Driver and an extra 1" on each of the Low-Frequency Drivers?

I would get the Center channel because its not an upgrade its rather a tricky crossgrade. The Klipsch will play louder but the Infinity speakers are more acurate and musical IMHO. I'm suffering from upgradeitis also - I have a pair of Quad 22L's wondering if I should keep them? (They are more of a cosmetic upgrade - sonically its a toss up - a wonderful speaker indeed!)

The million dollar question is how to explain to my wife that a mid range and bigger drivers is worth it?

I have the Infinity 362's and the pc350 for my LRC and am using the 150's for surrounds. I think the center upgrade to the 350 would be great for you. It sounds fantastic and I think the 250's are outstanding as well.

The recommendations you've gotten about moving the sub and spreading out the LRC in the nook I think would do wonders for the sound. Just move those towers out to be flush with the nook. Once you center the 350 and recalibrate, you should notice a good difference.

I'm no expert, but I would think those small changes should be sweet.

Just tell your wife that your happiness makes everyone better .. lol

Well, I've found out that I cannot put the center in front of the TV (on the same glass) because the center blocks too much of the bottom of the screen. The only thing I can think of it to buy a new TV stand, but I can't afford that right now.

Just raise up the set a bit. Cheap way to do that is either a piece of wood or some of those rubber feet you can pick up at Walmart or Home Depot. Paint it black and it won't even show up if you put a little time into it.

Good call. I think 4 or 6 rubber feet would work well, if they raise the set enough.
