Personally i thought the shake level was very similar between both films. I hated Cloverfield, but was pleasantly suprised by Quarantine. Its worth a watch, imo

Ummmmmmmmmmm really dumb question here, but what the French does [REC] mean? I keep seeing that on this thread and it gets lost on me.

Blair Witch did not do it first...

Anybody remember The Last Broadcast and Cannibal Holocaust?

Blair Witch was just the first major success in that format.

Um ... both films are 100% different.
The way they both were shot is similar, but that's it.

Last Broadcast was great. I haven't seen Cannibal holocaust yet, I'll have to add it to the list! Love Cinema Verite Horror...

And even though it was a BLATANT attempt to cash in on the Blair Witch craze at the time, I also enjoyed The St. Francisvile Experiment. Sucker for cinema verite horror and haunted house movies, so put 'em both together and you're pretty much got me.

Cloverfield is supposed to be filmed by amateur characters.

I just saw Quarantine a few nights ago and while I enjoyed both movies I can officially say Cloverfield was the better movie. IMO. It didn't really ruin the movie for me knowing how it was going to end, but after seeing the monster in the storage attic I think that would have been a better route to go for most of the movie.
