Quarantine 2

Like the Spanish original, the American remake of “REC”, since retitled “Quarantine”, is getting a sequel, but unlike the Spanish sequel, the American version will be going direct to DVD. STYD reports that a writer/director has been found to continue the “Quarntine” story, which will take the action out of the apartment of the original and move to an airport setting. (In the Spanish sequel, the action immediately continued after the events of the first film, and was once again set in the same building location.) Writer/director John Pogue (“Ghost Ship”, “The Skulls”) will be taking over the franchise for Screen Gems.

Co-written and co-directed by Jaume Balagueró and Paco Plaza, the Spanish “REC” has become a profitable horror franchise overseas. 2008’s “Quarantine”, which starred “Dexter’s” Jennifer Carpenter (below) as the doomed female reporter/lead, made $41 million worldwide from a $12 million dollar budget. It wasn’t a big hit, but was a moderate hit, thus the film’s direct-to-DVD sequel status.

This should be interesting. I haven't yet seen the Spanish sequel and would very much like to- but I'll also be looking at this as well. I wonder if it will be on Blu-ray in addition to DVD?

Rec 2 was not very good, to much of the same.

Rec 2 was amazing. It took the concept of the first and turned it up to 11.

What movie did you watch? I'd agree with you if it ended the same way or was stocked with the same kind of characters but it expanded upon the premise, better explained what was going on and the ending took the film in a very different and creepy direction.

U know what they did. But to there benefit atleast we didnt know it was the ending. Thats why they were able to show it in a trailor because it seems like a regular scene of

But thats how u close the film? Those writers need to be grabbed by one of them zombies. Haha! Got Em!!

QUARANTINE 2 GETS 2 CAST MEMBERS

Quarantine 2 is definitely on its way. With John Pogue in place to direct, Bloody-Disgusting reports that the first two actors have been added to the cast. And who might they be, you ask?

Hey, working actors getting work. Let's just hope the sequel won't suck. The sequel to the remake of [Rec] won't follow [Rec] 2, but will instead bring the infection to an airport (where it will stand in lines and pay extra to check an overhead bag, driving everyone insane).

Quarantine 2 is going direct to DVD.

I'll watch it.

For a remake, the first one was not to bad, but a DTV sequel looks like it could suffer. I will see it even though it seems like a RE Degeneration clone.

Don't really like these remakes, i mean, they are remakes of movies made 1 year earlier or so... like "Let me in", well money is money :P
