We don't need the fourth, it's the black eye of the series. We're better off without it. What really matters is getting the director's cuts of both Aliens and Alien 3, that is the necessity!

One and three for sure, for me. I never liked 2, and 4 is just ok. I don't understand why everyone like 2 so much, I always thought that one had too much of a different feel to it. I understand they had different directors, but I don't think we needed an Alien movie that felt like Richard Linklater in space. I love good dialogue, but "a ton" of dialogue doesn't make poorly written dialogue better, just longer.

It would be silly not to include the fourth, though. They already have 5 and 6 out. Releasing 1-3 but not 4 would leave a hole right in the middle of the collection. That would drive me nuts. And besides, I'm sure the film has fans out there.

Personally, I find it a weak addition to the overall series, but do enjoy it on its own terms. And I definitely like it better than AVP. (I haven't seen AVP-R.)

I don't really consider the Aliens Vs. Predator films part of either the Aliens series or the Predator series, it's more of its own series. Not to mention, they are horrible films that I would never buy anyway.

Default Alien, Aliens and Alien 3 Release, do you want grain or DNR & EE?

There have been rumors of a possible blu-ray release of Alien, Aliens and the third https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=87536

Being a big fan of the series I'm suddenly
concerned that they wont do these releases prober.
My concern is Grain, or the lack of!
I sure hope that however is transfering these soon blu-ray's to be,
aren't gonna DNR (Digital Noise Reduction) & EE (Edge Enhancement) the crap out of the movies!
Correct me if I'm wrong, DNR'ing means "wiping" the picture to defeat the grain and
ultimately also wiping the details, we ( I ) need to see in the movies.
And EE to give it a fake detail "look" also leaving halos around the edges of everything.
Personally I prefer grain, but I'm not in love with grain but I have accepted
grain to be natural. That's why I'll vote for grain.
Now my question is to you,
do you want processed (DNR and EE) blu-ray copies
of the Alien releases? to give it a "modern" and "newer" look? (Examples?)
Or do you want the movies closer to their original look/feel? (I.E. Godfather trilogy, Close Encounters of the 3 Kind)
Please think long and hard and feel free to state why you voted this or that.
I don't know if this is the correct forum, but this is concerning the future blu-ray releases,
so here you go.

Considering there is no "director's cut" of Alien 3, that might be difficult.

and David Fincher "disowned" it (whatever it's called).
There is a longer version (or different), but not the directors cut.

Here's the issue for me: I highly prefer the clean look with no grain but only if that means they didn't EE the crap outta it as those halos are very distracting and I also don't want detail missing and having it look smeared or soft. So, that means for most movies that means there is gonna be grain and from alot of these 70's and 80's flicks that means ALOT of grain as they didn't use the best film stock. I have a feeling this Alien movies are gonna have lots of grain and there will be about 100 threads on here complaining they f'd the movie up. Just go ahead and prepare for it.

Fox does not use DNR in their titles, Patton and Longest Day were mastering errors.
