It's every bit as good as the other ones. You just have to learn to let go of 1930-1940s Indy and embrace 1950s Indy. Remember, it's not the years, it's the milage...

I would love a final chapter. Indy deserves that.

I agree. The movie has grown on me and now I think it's a great movie.

Plus, it was the only Indiana Jones movie that I watched in the theatre. Big memories.

I think they did a fantastic job with the character and the action scenes.

There are some really great qualities to the movie that perhaps you need to be a little older to really understand. Plus, it helps to know a bit about the pop culture of the 1950s and how it was different from that of the 40s, where Indy had spent most of the previous movies. Well, naturally it would have to deal with aliens and that kind of stuff...

That's what made it good imo. The mayan culture and the theories and conspiracies during the 50's lent to the story very well. Also, is it anymore ridiculous than ghosts coming out of arcs or potato rocks, or holy grails??

What does the 30s and 40s have to do with anything? It was a bad movie

It was actually a very good movie, though it is clear that there were some people who didn't like it... maybe because it wasn't identical to the ones we had seen before. And, yes, this happens a lot with many franchises, some people expect something nearly identical to the previous installments and, if it isn't that, will say that it was a bad movie even though a lot of people enjoyed it.

Sorry I expected a good movie and we didn’t get one.

Nah, KOTCS is just a bad movie. Go ahead and tell me I am wrong, I don't care.

If they do make a fifth one I just hope that Lucas isn't involved in any way. Heck, they shouldn't even let him watch the film at the premiere.

What's your definition of a good movie? Maybe you have a different definition than others do. Many have already posted here telling us why they liked it and enjoyed it.

And, honestly, it has all the elements from all the other Indy movies, and an bravura performance from Cate Blanchett. And it brings back Marion!! What it doesn't have is the same time & setting as the other movies, but it is equally inspired by the serials of old, and whatever pop culture thing was popular at the time in which the movie is set.

Plus, it is always fun to revisit the Indiana character. I didn't feel it absolutely needed to be made, but since they came together to make one, I'm pretty glad that the movie turned out to be so much fun.

Wrong is too strong a word, but a bit overstated imo. Not saying KOTCS is the best Indy, infact I would say it is the least. I can easily list what problems i had with it, but in the overall grand scheme of the film and the series it is an enjoyable entry.

No it doesn't;

For starters it doesn't have a great premise that is rooted in historical/religious significance, but rather some conspiracy theory discussed on reddit. The idea of including Russians this time around had potential, but I didn't see any actual Russians in the movie and Blanchett plays a second in command, she makes for a very poor villain.

In line with that, there are no horrific scenes like people's facing melting off, hearts being torn from people's chests and instant death from drinking from a wrong cup. Instead it has people gazing at a Dan Ackroyd vodka bottle. And please, CGI ants aren't scary;

In fact it has far too much CGI to the point it becomes distracting and uncredible instead of incredible; the jungle chase sequence a perfect example of a blue screen debacle rendering in front of your eyes. What happened to the practical effects and stunt work that elevated this series from its competition?

Whereas the other movies were rooted in matinee serial spectacle with well rounded characters, adventure and sense of danger; Here all of that is flacid and running through the motions. Never would I have imagined a scene with Indy and his son investigating a crypt location being such a dull fest.

The new characters are cartoon'esque 1 dimensional and with Marion, Indy has a new relic to put in a museum. I'm surprised they didn't get Calista Flockhart to be honest as I'd buy that considering.

I don't have high expectations of Indy 5 and honestly, if they would go the "Chinatown" route and simply have Indy do a film noire detective story given his age, I'd much rather see that than another geriatric trainwreck.

P.S. the prospect of a new Williams score is much more appealing than the actual movie to me lol.

This. They had an awesome vehicle with the Jungle Cutter, that I was expecting to chew-up some Ruskies, and it went to waste.

Am I the only one who thinks a new series starring Chris Pratt is a fantastic idea?

No, you're not alone. He would be a perfect Indy.

Time to reboot Jones and give the new generations a new hero who will set the box office on fire.

Pretty glad Kasdan is out tbh as I find his work a little on the mediocre side, unsure about Fogelman, only seen his animated work so it's hard to judge. But dang, they're on their 3rd writer now, just make it already or don't.

Nope.

I'd rather see Spielberg doing other stuff, and frankly, Ford is too old.

Besides, I doubt they're gonna top Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, which is my favorite.

I never hated Crystal Skull, not even when it was most fashionable to do so, and it really has grown on me since. The distance of time (it's 11 years old already) has helped to make it feel a bit more 'lived in', if that makes sense. The massive CG overload in the last third still disappoints, more so because there's still some rollicking good physical action in the first two thirds of the film, but overall I kinda like it. UHDs of all the Indys please Paramount.
