Oh that's great to hear! That is the one current trend that I loathe with a passion!

IF you're determined for hard cover...I got soft cover for $22. Either it's worth getting the book...I wanted to see the movie just based on the previews, but after reading the book I want to see it even more now.

I just hope at this point that Warner does not wreck the Blu-ray release. I have a feeling they are going to do the same thing they did with I Am Legend, with an initial release light on extras, and then later release the deluxe edition. Are there going to be any territories where another studio controls the Blu-ray release? I keep seeing Paramount in the trailer credits so there must be some small hope for a foreign BD release.

Would you suggest someone read the Graphic Novel before seeing it, or reading it after watching the movie?

Well reading it will definitely give away the plot points. I'd recommend reading it first though, but it all depends on your tastes. Do you enjoy watching a movie more than reading a comic? Which ever you enjoy the most is the source you'll get the most story and understanding out of.

I usually enjoy movies completely spoiler free. I try not to watch previews before movies. Main reason why I was asking though is it worth reading first to get the references that people were referring to.

I think I'm leaning on reading it after.

I've not read the story either but I am really looking forward to this movie. The trailer is awesome and while I am mainly a PQ guy, I am very interested in the soundtrack of this movie. From what little I've heard, it sounds cool.

Here's some more good info. It was getting late so I left after all the actor's did their stuff, and I missed the Q&A with Zach Snyder which apparently had some good info about what some of you have asked. MTV just put up some of the tidbits and there is good news about the director's cut.

Quote:
And on his gutsy decision to tweak the graphic novel's conclusion: "The reason why the squid was taken out of the movie was so there'd be more Rorschach, and a little more Manhattan."
Quote:
"The director's cut is three hours and 10 minutes and comes out in July," Snyder revealed, calling his original edit "considerably more violent than this ... and sexier" and explaining that if the movie does well, the director's cut will get a theatrical release in Los Angeles and New York.

Following that, of course, will be the "Watchmen" DVD in the fall — which will include what he dubbed a "Crazy Ultimate Freaky Edition" boasting such time-omitted extras as "Tales of the Black Freighter," Hollis Mason's death, more Manhattan moments on Mars and dialogue-heavy scenes with the newsstand-bonding Bernies.
Read the entire thing here and see a clip of Snyder.

Watchmen wasn't written for kids...far too dense a read for most.

Anybody bringing their kids expecting to see something in the vein of Spiderman or Iron Man will be sadly disappointed (and so will their little one)

I can't wait though....2 weeks to find out if Snyder pulled it off.

I'm so stoked for this movie. I read the book a few weeks ago and loved it. The new ending sounds pleasant. I am content with that ending. I'm glad to hear that it is brutal as well.

I can not wait for the blu-ray release of this.

Some jacka**, sensationalist news program will put together a brief report on how superhero movies shouldn't be this violent.

After they get over themselves, maybe then they will realize it's rated R for a reason.
