I'm not sure if you're getting mixed up with the USA release... but..

BOTH German & UK Blu-Ray releases are from the exact same source, the Studio Canal VC1 encode (that was originally released on HD-DVD)

Since the UK encode was good enough I seriously doubt that they would spend money on doing a recode. This will be the same old copy we currently have. I would be very supprised that they gone back and redone this.

Here's how many time I bought this movie :

- T2 LD box set
- T2 LD director's pan & scan version
- T2 LD CLV version
- T2 SE LD original box set
- T2 SE LD box set reissue with different foil on logo
- T2 SE director's pan & scan
- T2 japanese SQUEEZE LD (rare withdrawn version !)
- T1 + T2 VHS box set ltd edition (mainly for the great booklet included) I have since then given to someone the tapes inside).
- T2 original first DVD issue NTSC
- T2 first Pal DVD (mainly to see if the encoding improved or not)
- T2 SE DVD with all the bonuses from the LD NTSC
- T2 SE DVD Pal (mainly to see what kind of butchery they have made of the original SE edition)
- T2 extreme edition NTSC

- T2 japan blu-ray steelbook

I'm looking forward for the skull set ! Double dip complaints ? Ha, you guys are small players. I'm off to the 16th version !

I settled for the smaller German edition for roughly 55 euros, true it does not come with all those other discs but I decided I did not need them anyway, just wanted that Endoskeleton which the German set still includes.

For anyone that is waiting for the ueber dueber set at $175 with all of the disc, I am sure the price will come way down. It's happened with every BD set, since they started with the special ed type packaging. I have the German ed on order (and yes, I already own the HD DVD), but this one's hot, even for a high-def chick like me!

I'm not touching it until we get confirmation on just what is in this UK version

Remember the film has different distributers in the UK/Europe compared to the USA...

In the UK it is Optimum who own the rights... I doubt very much they will package the UK Endoskull with the 6 discs (containing every 'extra feature' ever made) they are getting in the USA

At this point in time we don't even know if Optimum will use the Lionsgate remastered seamless-branching AVC encode... or just fob us off with a repackaged version of the Studio Canal VC1 already on sale.

I would hazard a guess, that as Optimum has announced ONLY a limited Endoskull Edition... but NO new 'Just the movie' release.... that they therefor have absolutely no intention of re-releasing T2 again... with this new AVC encode.... and the European Endoskull will just be the same VC1 disc, repackaged in limited edition form, to cash-in on the new Terminator Salvation movie.

Me personally, I would give these Euro Endoskulls a miss.... wait to see if the USA editions prove to be region free or not... then pick up the movie how it always should have been on Blu... Remastered like new, with a full 50GB AVC seamless-branching encode.... not a low bitrate HD-DVD 'hand me down' encode taken from a dirty master.

Good luck on that one. It's already been stated that a re-master hasn't been done. It's the same master being used, but 'cleaned up' and of coarse a different codec being used. The term 'cleaned up' doesn't exactly set my pulse racing.

Optimum is owned by studio canal and since they ported all there HD-DVDs over (including Terminator 2) it is garanteed that it will be the same HD-DVD port. I will personally be very supprised if its a fresh new encode but I as you said its more likely becasue of the new film they are doing same encode but new packaging.

The new Lionsgate T2 release IS based on a new transfer, the same transfer just used for the Japanese T2 release. Jeff Kleist has confirmed both of these bits of info.

Wow that's a nice pack. Only problem is it won't fit among the rest of my Blu's.
