I wouldn't look at a sale and way 'wow, that sale sucks' because I'm sure to get a few titles from the '$7.99 & Under' sale - but there's a few I might not grab because my mind feels they should be $6.99. There have been some great deals on small studio digital exclusive recent releases at $6.99 and that's a price I'm more willing to pay. It seems random as to why a sale would be for $7.99 and not the $6.99 standard - it's 'only' a dollar but seems arbitrary and an odd reach up in price versus other vendors.
Edit: Hoping for fair to me pricing on Catch-22, 13 Minutes, Resistance, Night of the General, and maybe War Pigs which would be interesting looking blind buys.

On the subject of pricing I have also noticed that buried into the 'Deals of the Week' has been a $5.99 title from publisher The Orchard, which has a wide ranging seemingly random catalog but some potentially interesting titles on discount. The Unicorn a few weeks back, What About Nina last week, and this week it's We the Animals (91% Rotten Tomatoes) - generally those are the type of smaller studio digital only films I don't mind paying ~$6.99 for if they look curious and it seems to support creative interesting films.

Amazon has ruined digital sales for me after picking up so many movies from them for .99 and tv seasons for 2-3.99.

I feel the same way about Vudu when the had D2D for $1 and credits rained down from the heavens.

Sales don’t interest me but I honestly thought they might have more than just war themed material for sale.

Well onto Father’s Day.

I still fantasize that they'll bring back the convert 10 or more and get 50% off at least for the holidays but I keep being disappointed year after year.

I went crazy when it was only $1 to convert. I used pretty much every credit I ever obtained on D2D. Plus I wasn't charged tax back then, so $10 would get me 10 movies straight up...

I was hoping for some great Memorial Day deals. I have $20 in credit expiring in 4 days. I guess I'll blow the wad on M2D now...

I'm still really tempted to get They Shall Not Grow Old for $9.99. I just don't see it dropping in price much more.

Same here. I was waiting and hoping it might be a title in their Memorial Day sale and hit $6.99 or $7.99. I'm biting now at $9.99.

Selection can be argued, but $6.99 hasn't been a good "deal" price in a long time. If I ever get any of those "monthly sale" movies, it's because I have a 20% or $2 off code from watching one of the free movies that's "leaving soon."

I know you're talking about $7.99 in this case, but $6.99 is not all that much better. $5 is the sweet spot, especially since iTunes and FN regularly have sales at that price point (as you also noted).

(If I'm confusing you with another poster, please accept my sincerest apologies.)
Speaking of which it's about that time again so keep your eyes open for the "going away" credit. If they keep doing it every month $2 ain't a bad guaranteed deal.

I could have swore I saw a "UHD" tag above this on the phone app the other day... But today on the desktop I'm only seeing HDX. Is there a UHD version available on any of the providers?

Yeah, but they are never MA compatible.

Sorry Amazon, I'm not taking the bait.

It was there, but a mistake.

It's not in UHD on any service that I know of. Plus it hasn't received a 4k release, which is shameful.

Also The Rock and Armageddon are both $9.99 HDX, oh and ughh, blah, Pearl Harbor also. I'm sure it's been mentioned but I'm being the broken record.

It's enough to make one wonder what Vudu expects to accomplish but not offering competitive pricing.
Vudu's Memorial Day Sale is better than the current iTunes Sale.

iTunes is selling the War Movies for $9.99. Vudu is selling the same titles for $7.99. Saving Private Ryan, Fury, Lone Survivor, We Were Soldiers, Platoon, etc. All cheaper at Vudu.

Also, iTunes only has 35 War Movies in their sale. Vudu has 176 War Movies on sale.

I'm looking forward to picking up some non-D2D titles that have been on my Wishlist for a while.

I picked it up, my friend got to see it in theaters and raved about it. Help Mr Jackson recoup his costs if this is truly a special film.

I don't need a movie to be MA for me to buy it so that doesn't really matter, some are only available on Amazon, some are no longer available anywhere to buy including Amazon, and I saved upwards of $880.00. I feel just fine taking the bait.

Of course, an hour after I post this iTunes drops a bunch of War Movies to $4.99.

But it's still a mixed bag. A lot of movies are cheaper in the Vudu sale.

Is Vudu having a 'Memeorial Day' sale with $7.99 titles priced at $13.99 on purpose? That's surprisingly self depreciating of them.

Just as a datapoint, I got 3 twizzlers the other day, and submitted my receipt for the fandango promo, and it was approved this morning. SO 3x$1.98 =$3 in VUDU and $5 in fandangonow rental..i wish it wasnt rental credit, but it is what it is.

I was just checking certain items I want, and wondering exactly the same. I noticed this in another recent sale, that a few items were listed in the sale but not actually on sale. For this one, there area a LOT of items in the sale list that are not on sale at all (same price, not even the SD versions is $7.99 or less).

I mean, hopefully some of those simply need to be processed into the sale and will appear later as actually on sale. Maybe.
