For me "Star Wars" has always been the Skywalker Saga. I loved the original trilogy. I never considered it high art, and its mythology makes little sense since George Lucas was changing it as he went along. I've watched the prequels but was unimpressed. I only watched the Disney Star Wars movies because my daughter wanted to see them, but will go see IX just to see how it ends. I have never watched any of the TV series. When the new trilogy comes out, if there is good buzz I'll go to the theatre, if not I'll wait for Disney+. I do wonder at times what exactly "Star Wars" means. To me, without Luke, Leia, Han, Chewy, or even Rey, it is just a Disney label for action oriented family Sci-Fi with cute robots. |

Dunno - only if you guys promise not to knob-slobber over the movies as if they were the best thing ever. Fair enough?

Star Wars without the major characters that we've grown to love over the last 40+ years arent getting replaced by anything or anyone new. Nuh uh. Not even close. ![]() Last edited by s2mikey; 05-15-2019 at 07:47 PM. |

Raw's ratings skyrocketed to all-time highs when Russo wrote the show; GoT ratings and popularity grew and grew every season. I'm sure glad in both cases they didn't listen to people like you

I imagine we would have to wait to see if Disney can create characters as loved and memorable as Lucas did with Luke, Han and Leia to then see if any future installments will make any controversial choices with their character arcs before we can determine if there will be any more "meltdowns". |

The best seasons of Game of Thrones were the ones where they were taking the George RR Martin Books and adapting them. That isn't meant as an insult.
Take a movie like Raiders of the Lost Ark. It was a perfect storm of people doing what they're good at. Lucas came up with the concept and Kasdan helped write it. Then Spielberg directed it and Ford brought the character to life. Hopefully Benioff and Weiss are taking some material and adapting it to the screen, because that's what they seem best at. Not everyone can do it well. |
