For me "Star Wars" has always been the Skywalker Saga. I loved the original trilogy. I never considered it high art, and its mythology makes little sense since George Lucas was changing it as he went along. I've watched the prequels but was unimpressed. I only watched the Disney Star Wars movies because my daughter wanted to see them, but will go see IX just to see how it ends. I have never watched any of the TV series. When the new trilogy comes out, if there is good buzz I'll go to the theatre, if not I'll wait for Disney+. I do wonder at times what exactly "Star Wars" means. To me, without Luke, Leia, Han, Chewy, or even Rey, it is just a Disney label for action oriented family Sci-Fi with cute robots. |
