They can do whatever it is Disney tells them to do. They have free reign per se. The beauty of it is that it can’t in any way cause a meltdown. These new, unrelated movies don’t matter and if the die hards don’t care then they simply won’t go see them. If they end up good, then fine, watch and enjoy.

Nothing to meltdown about, sorry to say.
I agree.
For me "Star Wars" has always been the Skywalker Saga. I loved the original trilogy. I never considered it high art, and its mythology makes little sense since George Lucas was changing it as he went along.

I've watched the prequels but was unimpressed. I only watched the Disney Star Wars movies because my daughter wanted to see them, but will go see IX just to see how it ends. I have never watched any of the TV series.

When the new trilogy comes out, if there is good buzz I'll go to the theatre, if not I'll wait for Disney+.

I do wonder at times what exactly "Star Wars" means. To me, without Luke, Leia, Han, Chewy, or even Rey, it is just a Disney label for action oriented family Sci-Fi with cute robots.
